I'ts happen to me too and i had a quick fix..(put a thin peace of plastic in there... i used a zip tie tip then cut with a hot X-ACTO blade) but to quick fix there is quick broken again lol

hey guys I finally recieve my n900 here in Perú. All was good at 1st, turned on ok, then I see low battery sign and I did plug it to my USB PC but it was changing the 1st 10 to 20 seconds!!! O_o

tried like 3 times, and same! then I did try with my wall charger and same issue OMG!! O_o but at the 3rd try it starts charging non-stop. Oohhh thnx GOD!!!

But why???? maybe battery was too low in order to start charging non-stop?

ATM it still changing but believe me, am really affraid of touch it ^^ what if it stops charging!! >.< paranoia!!

Why dont you just file down the knobs on the charger completely!? I did that after about 5 normal charges. Know this has been posted many times before, but I really think this will help preventing a loose plug. Mine slides in, out with no force at all. As long as you plug it all the way there will be no problems charging at all.

I agree this problem sucks overall, because a simple drop of the phone on the cable will rip the plug, shouldnt be.

Every phone I´ve owned have been nokia brand, and the n900 is far the best ever but its also the first one with a design flaw.

I did the filing on all chargers/cables that I have for my n900 and they slide in and out very easily. My port still seems secure after a few months of constant plugging/unplugging from my laptop usb port.

my mini-usb female connector seem really good. attached very firmly. The thing is that it is not charging!!!

but when I pass a 2Gb file it goes really fast and all ok. but it still charges just 10 or 20seconds then nothing :s

Thanks. Just got my N900 recently and immediate filed my cable prongs after reading this thread.

I hope my N900 usb port lasts.

My manufacture date is 10th week 2010.

Did you also send in the charger?

Showing charging for 10-20 sec is what my n900 does when I connect it to my switched-off tekkeon mp1550, so it might be your charger..
