finally reached the fecking end of this topic... i'm wrecked!

with regards to differences in firmware regions i know that different countries have different rules for wifi/fm/gsm etc, so i'd say the uk firmware is down to a set of rules which apply specificly in the uk but not in europe, maybe the fm transmitter or something. it's a pity there's nothing on the wiki about the firmware regional differences.

If you go to the Nokia download site directly at http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N900.php there isn't a UK build of the new firmware yet, so I guess there's no point checking on the phone itself :-)

Yes, but there isn't a UK build of the previous 2 firmware updates either, but they are both available on the phone.

There's different rules throughout Europe though, so there must be some way to tweak the settings based on location already,

Not technically connected my n900 to my pc yet, apart from a few cheats ,using winscp over the wireless to transfer some files :P

Good question on the iphone... pretty sure it can dome some things OTA, but needs to be synced every so often.

nokia wouldnt be doing that as part of an update?
That would be a 3rd party application.

Flash10 would be the saviour to most online tv....

So it seems we may have to wait a little longer, but they recognise the issue and we will get it eventually!

Just thought I'd let you know what I was told!....
(original comment page 116)

Let's all calm down, have a cup of tea and wait until the end of Feb/Start of March for the major part of the update.

After that then we can panic!
