gave the phone to my aunty, since I left Germany in Jul 04

nokia 3310
Jul-04 - Oct-04
the phone didn't hold charge (it was 2nd hand), even with a new battery. I've still got the phone in a box in my room.

nokia 3330

The phone's speaker stopped working. Ive still go it in, in the box. (this one was second hand too)

NEC C313

Had this phone for 1.5years. It was budget (bought at Woolworths UK). Screen Cracked. Still have the phone in the box mentioned above.

Nokia 6822
Jul-06 - Sep-06
It was an epic fail! The keyboard kept on falling apart, so I returned it and got a refund for a Sony Ericsson

Sony Ericsson k750i

The screen broke. I actually ordered another k750i off eBay and swapped the screen. But the screen broke again.

Nokia e51 (w/ camera)
Jun-08 - Oct-09
First contract phone on a business contract. My dad spilt coffee on it, so I got BT (Network Operator) to send me a Nokia E52.

Nokia e52
Oct-09 - present
I still use it now and then. Currently, it's covering my N900 which has been sent of to get repaired (USB Port Problem)

Nokia N900
Apr-10 - present
It is at Nokia Service Centre, getting fixed. This is probably the most ideal phone, I have had.

Nokia 1661-2
May-10 - present
I let my Dad use it, but I use it for 'fun' now and then. It is lying in front of me, while writing this.

Nokia N8-00
Oct-10 - present
This is the main phone I currently use. OVI Maps and Camera being most used features.

Wow... just writing this made me realize that I have had so many phones over the past 7 years (First phone was when I was 10 years old).. It might seem that the phones were 'modern' but you have to remember that I am only 17 and didn't have the chance to get my hands on vintage Mobile Phones

Here is my list. Don't remember years I had them, but this is the rough order.

Nokia 5165
Nokia 6360
SE T68i
Motorola T720
Motorola V600
Motorola RAZR V3
Nokia 6800
Samsung SGH-x426
Motorola L2
LG 1150
Motorola Timeport P7328i
Motorola MPx200
Blackberry 7100g
SE T637
Nokia 3620
Motorola KRZR K1
NEC 535M
Sierra Wireless VOQ A11
SE P900
Motorola RAZR2 V8
LG Shine KU970
Audiovox PPC4100
AT&T 2125
T-Mobile Wing
Blackberry Curve 8320
LG Incite CT810
T-Mobile G1
HTC TouchHD
T-Mobile MyTouch3G
Nokia N900

Well, that's it in a mostly correct order. As you can tell, I have a problem. That is 2000 to the present. I have to say that I have had most experience with Windows Mobile, and some Android, but my N900 is absolutely the best phone I've ever had. Only complaints are that we cannot get Flash 10.1, would like to have multi-touch, and I would like to have a larger screen. Other than that, there is not another current phone I would rather own.

These are the phones I owned and used for more than a month or two. They are pretty much in the order in which I used them but there was, and continues to be, a lot of overlap among the products. For example I have the N78-3, the N900 and my unpictured N8 all active right now. When my son returns my Nuron when he replaces his broken SGH-D900i I'll probably put the Nuron back into service and re-vault my N78-3.

Of these I have had some favorites.
  • The 6103 was the first phone I unlocked and debranded.
  • The 6290 was my first S60 phone and along with my SU-8W served as my "laptop" my first year teaching high school until a real lap top came along.
  • The V635 was the first phone I did extensive modifications on. SEEM edits, language packs, icon sets and the like. It is what opened my eyes to how modifiable a phone could be. It also was the first device where I found an active and knowledgeable community support system. It was the first device I bricked.

There are also some "least favorite" devices pictured.
  • The Sony-Ericsson W580i because of its limited memory, cheap feeling slide and proprietary headphone jack.
  • The Samsung SGH-U600 because of it's limited feature set, very cheap feeling slide and crack prone housing. The capacitive buttons were cool.

Not pictured is the Nokia 6301b which was a mixed bag and so forgettable I ... forgot it when making the photo compilation. Many other devices came and went for a week or so. They either were too basic, too limited or no improvement over what I had at the time.

I'm okay with my present line-up and have slowed way down on trying out phones. I look forward to checking out a future MeeGo device but do not feel compelled to camp out in front of my computer to buy one as soon as it is released.

In 2010 I have gone though a Nokia 5230 (lasted 3 months), and now have a Nokia N900 as my device of choice.

At the moment it is hard to see anything on sale or announced replacing it if I had to. It is still a damned awesome device.
