As a default the ipod has its files hidden, if the N800 has the ability to view hidden files, then yes... have not tried it but maybe someone else can and verify...

I think it's worse than that. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that the music on the iPod is not just hidden, it's stored in a database. So it's not just a question of finding the hidden file(s), you also have to extract them somehow. I think.

Do a search some more, there's another thread about this. Basically most of the Ipod's require a powered hub because when they are connected they request enough power to charge and the NIT can't put out enough juice. Also there may be some file system differences that might prevent certain models from working.

I got my dongles yesterday.
I am too dumb to go to xterm to set up usb devices, solder, etc.
OTG dongle promised to work when I plugged in with a usb thumb drive.
Figured I could handle that.
Ordered.
Waited one week.
Plugged OTG dongle to N800.
No smoke.
Plugged thumb drive to dongle.
No smoke.
Whew.
Screen flashed message "USB device not supported"
Filemanager Open automatically
Showed my thumb drive files on the screen.
Getting excited.
Clicked on picture file (.jpg)
Opened imageviewer on N800.
Picture!!
Cool.
Thanks.

The above deserves to be included in the Best Poetry of Linux Users volume this year, if there is one.

P.S. I also received my dongle and it also works.

yup...once a device passes the good old 'smoke test' it's all gravy after that point.

So did an N810 version of this thread get stared? It would be graet if a Micro USB to FEM USB were avaialble.

BTW, I have just received some parts from DX with a view to solder a Micro usb plug to an SD card reader. Unfortunately, neither of the two SDHC card readers I ordered are recognised by my N810. Rats!

I only have one reader that takes multiple cards that works with the N810. This is too bulky a solution. This is the only one that works that I have:

Has anyone found ANY SDHC single card readers that the N810 will recognise?

The "smoke test" is one of my favorite bits of tech lore.

I've got the dongle hooked up. N800 reads a thumb drive ok. Will not read FAT formatted Flip video, nor Nikon Coolpix 2100, nor powered external HD (FAT 32 / 29GB partition). I think the Flip is looking for power so that's ok. The HD actually indicates that it is hooked up to a PC, but the N800 gives me the "no file system available" error. Same with the camera; though I do get a USB icon on the Nokia in both cases. The usefulness of the OTG/dongle is rather compromised as I can't use it with any of my devices. Any suggestions other than perhaps a powered hub? Thanks -
