I'm still not sure that would be a good choice for other reasons, though; maybe too easy to pop a mounted card out.
This is a push in push out SD holder, it comes either way. I decided I wanted the cover completly covering the card to keep dirt out of the tablet. Most ejecting type holders have a cutout around the card or a flip door. This would make it too expensive.

Also from the way I use my N800 with the 32GB card inside I realized I hardly ever remove it. I only remove it when I need to load a very large amount of data on it. Most of the time the USB connection are fast enough. With a 32GB card in this adapter it will be the same for most people who purchase it.

Thanks

The screw replaces the on that is there. This kit comes with the screw drivers to do this.

Thanks

What would you recommend?

I have been thinking of the battery upgrade but I want minimum bulk. I could get the SD slot w/o cover and the HC battery with cover or wait for your full kit. Have you thought of price difference yet?
Hhow much bulk does your cover add?

I have not settled on the price difference yet but the cover will have several additional features that can be added to it.

The Mugen cover is 7mm thick. My cover should be 4.5mm thick
I does not seem like a lot but it has taken me some time to get use to the battey's extra weight. the bulk is not so much of a problem since it make it easier for me to hold the tablet now. Before I always though it would slip out of my hands. I am sure this will be different from person to person.

I am keeping it as thin as possible.

Thanks

Did you consider also just version with spring loaded contacts or solder pads or something similar without full sd socket to make it thinner? I'd like to use original cover and I am willing to remove the plastic from the card, solder the pads or make dent in N810 gray plastic under cover to make it fit. Basically I am asking for barebone version without PCB and full SD socket. Just the minsd thing with flat cable and maybe correctly spaced solder pads or springs.

push-in/push-out slots are really nice, but I believe they are unsafe to use unless you use synchronized (and slow) writing like e.g. Palm. For the N8x0 the operating system needs to know that you intend to remove the card before you actually do it, with enough time to do an 'unmount' on the card before you physically remove it. The 'unmount' includes flushing unwritten data to the card and waiting for it to settle.

With the current N8x0 design (SD slot cover, or magnetic detection) the operating system gets advance notice and can unmount the card before you remove it. (And you shouldn't be too quick.. particularly with the large size cards. Give it a few seconds after you uncover before you actually remove it.)

This would be easy since you are willing to cut the N810 plastic and take the SD card out of the case. This is more of a hacker’s version and can be done. I would make such a version if at least 20 people wanted it at about $25.00 each. This is what the circuit boards would cost with shipping. I already have a design in my mind. It would need a PCB but you would have to solder the card in.

Let me know it would make a good hackers project.

Also as long as you are here,
1. Can you or anyone tell me where I can get a schematic of the N810?
2. Do you are anyone know if the N810 supports SPIO Mode or is there a way to communicate trough the SD port other than to flash cards?

3. Can the Data ports of the SD slot be addressed separately and are there any programs to do this?

4. Are there drivers for the FTDI Serial chips that are easy to install?

Thanks

You always have to open the current mini SD door defore you remove the card. You just have to open the door, not eject the adapter. Then you can change the card from the full size adapter. This makes it as safe as the original mini sd card being removed without the adapter.

Thanks
