What are they? I am suspicious of the use of the word "vast" here. I am wondering if we must lower our expectations significantly to allow unnoticable improvements to be called vast.

The email client is the elephant in the room issue for n900. It is hooribly slow, cannot copy paste unless you forward/reply it, there is no way to search/organize/tag emails, email push doesn't work for major email providers, etc...
When someone points these issues, (s)he is accused of having big inbox, not love for n900, etc...
