You think that I am dropping my n900 (not selling it yet) because I can't use it... I don't know linux, I just bought the wrong device, I don't know terminal, I am an apple fanboy and other meaningless comment. Well you are wrong my dear. I used every aspect of he phone... I have debian and mer installed... and i might not be a dev but still I don't think you are in the position of judging my knowledge. Is typical of brainless fanboy to insult people with a different level of awarness... you do not think as me... you are an ignorant. Very mature. I am sure that the community will be happy with you and you will be a shooting star in the maemo sky...
And about the user that post something about being or not being thanked... Again you just judge my profile not what I am writing...
Then someone ask me cold hard facts on why n900 is not matching anymore my expectation:
1. Impossible to understand the call log. It mixes all the incoming and outgoing calls. A mess.
2. open keyboard to search do not always work. most of the times do not.
3. Bluetooth it is a mess... very often when you hang a call the device disconnect from the hearphones...
4 Media player is orrible... you nedd a Ph.d. to make a playlist. Divx support is the only good thing...
5. Wi-Fi and bluetooth stremaing not possible together.
6. ROOTFS madness...
7. No maps
8. No navigation
9. No Ovi store
10. Cortex with open gl and NO 3d Game... and you know why? Bacause Nokia do not support the phone and NO software house is interesting in the platform... so no games... and you are happy with nintendo stolen games from 5 years ago... wow...
11. Impossible to mod anything in a user friendly way... there are just 4 themes and half of them create porblem with the OS or the OTA. Is the less mod friendly device i ever had... the orrible Iphone JB is more easy to mod.
12. BATTERY not right for the terminal power need... always low on power if you use it the way it must be used... Or you just spend 600€ for something that is not a phone but that you can't use it in other ways otherwise it drain the battery
13. No way to download music or film directly to the device... itunes and iMusic docet.
14. Bulky. Heavy and sexy as hulk hogan
15. NO SUPPORT from Nokia.
16. In 6 month 1 real update... not Nokia top priority
17. No upgrade to maemo6 or meego
18. laggy and slow camera app + video... Samer hardware from 5 years ago...
19. Resistive touchscreen... good one but still not capacitive.
20. No facebook or twitter app...
1. Hm-m, I consider it an advantage (commin in/out log). Strange.
2. Mine works fine - never had an issue besides died battery in red state.
3. Never seen that. I had some issue with BT disconnection during road noise but never seen disconnection after call.
(actually, I suspect you have some big running boy which is a cause for (2) and (3)) For exam - bug 8165.
4. There are another Open Source players, KMPlayer is very good and I use it instead of system media player. That is N900 open source advantage, BTW!
5. ... (Never used yet)
6. Yes, for some extent true.
7. Not true. My OVI maps works fine, I am able now have a safe address navigation and fast search. I am pleased with it.
8. (see point 7 - not true)
9. Yes.
10. It is not disadvantage for customers. Moreover, SGX gives me a high quality video with low battery consumption, at least if I compare it with another market possibilities.
11. That is how a fun boy thinking. I need a device for something useful but to show it to girls.
12. It is a best battery time - I have N1 in my family too and know that I am saying.
13 You did a wrong choice - the letter 'i' was reserved by Apply... oh, no, judge doesn't allow it... but iTunes and iMusic is definitely a competitor stuff.
14. Yes, but I never seen a problem with it. With right case, of course.
15. Blatantly not true. In 5 month we have 3 upgrades, Nokia HAS bugzilla and looks into filled reports - that is a record on market!
16. in 5 months - 3 upgrades. Never listened that before, BTW.
17. And what? You have an upgrade of your Toyota to new model? Or even iPhone to 3GS?
18. I don't think so.
19. It is a metter of personal choice. I have no opinion here.
20. You don't need it - you have a full browser.

So, from 20 points - 3 are 'yes, true' in my count.

But you right - N900 is not for fan boys, it is for thinking people.

yo, this phone is solid.. eventhough i will admit it needs some help.. and thats only in the extras department!! the phone itself is good, so to say that after 5 months it is crap is not fair. due to you still have a functioning phone lol.. now there will always be a different phone that does something you like or want.. but how often does a phone have a good camera+video+web flash+massive storage??? neeeeeever... android does not even supply this.. you would need blackberries camera, iphones apps, and androids well what do they do again??

Why bother vesting your dissatisfaction here at TMO when Nokia and the Maemo developers don't care what any of you are thinking/saying since they are enjoying their Nexus One and Droid phones rather than the N900?

Do you view style of the opening post as something that was intended to create useful discussion?
At least personally I find it very hard to read as such, but it is very easy to read it as something that was intended to create friction and bad atmosphere.

If you post an opening like that to a forum where a lot of people disagree with what you say, the most probable outcomes would usually be:
- thread lock
- total silence
- whining, whining, whining (as the call, so the echo)

I'm not sure which of those would be for the win, but the chances of anything great coming out of it were slim to begin with.

What bugs me about these threads is that charges that are demonstrably false or not important keep being made. For example, resistive vs capacitive screen: If you read ANY reviews before making your purchase, you must have known that. I don't have any problem with the resistive screen.

So, what's the advantage in then mentioning that there's a resistive screen, not capacitive, hundreds and hundreds of times? None, for anyone.

Someone says it's impossible to download movies or music "directly". I'm not sure what "directly" means in this context, but I download lots of mp3s all the time, with absolutely no problem.

Or "no twitter ap". This is just a lie, presumably made because the complainer is paying no attention.

Now, hearing these contentless, meaningless complaints over and over and over again -- it gets irritating.

And really, you could make complaints about the early cars:

1. Doesn't eat oats.
2. Roads are bumpy.
3. Hard to find gas stations.
4. Sometimes they don't start.

etc. What would be the point? Don't compare cars with horses, look at cars and see if what they do is something you want. The same for the N900. If it doesn't do what you want, sell it. If it does things you want, use it for them.

....about the surprise factor of the N900 I mentioned on the first page of this thread.......came back to the forums couple of minutes ago to find the brand new PicoDrive emulator that plays Megadrive and genesis games at 60FPS!.........now how awesome is that?.....again, THIS IS WHY IM KEEPING THIS PHONE!

By the way, and because we have 32gb of storage I`ve loaded 1gb of roms on the phone just for the fun of it without even worrying of running out of space.....

That's easy, just get a 16Gb SD card and you can have them all.

I have a great weather widget on one of my customised desktops "Forecaweather" I can set it up for multiple cities and have it updated as often as I want. There is a 9 day forecast with links to animated maps. Where is the problem ???
