Anyone found a way of increasing the max volume. I know theres a volume slider built in but the N900 can go way louder than that.

Would it be possible to run the voice files through something like Sound Forge and boost the recordings manually for each one then put them back into the relevant directory? I've only been able to find the .ogg 'sound' files rather than the 'voice' files so I haven't been able to try this.

Some claimed they have been able to transmit the sound to an fm station but I have not tried it because I have no idea how to go about doing it.

You'd do this with pairing the FM transmitter frequency on the N900 with the FM frequency on your radio.

The problem I have found with doing this is that when the sygic voice starts to speak sometimes - there is a slight delay before it comes through the car radio and so misses the first part of the instruction.

Whether that is an issue with my Vauxhall Car Radio or a general one I don't know.

Sygic doesn't seem to recognize the files placed in maps folder.
there are 2 files: icon + pois. pois to maps/your-country-here/
icon to res/icons

though I experience almost always instant crashes when I quickly browse map with all pois enabled (original and from poiplaza).

If like me you hate seeing Sygic sound files on your media player you can stop media player indexing it.

You need to edit the tracker config file (/home/user/.config/tracker/tracker.cfg)

This is not for every one so becareful when doing this, if your are not sure how to please do not attempt it.
i suggest you use tracker-cfg, it’s a really great and easy-to-use program

for the USA maps, there is a subfolder for each state in /maps/statexx/ while the poi's are USA-yyy. I understand your logic of putting the poi files in the country but there is no USA country folder as such ....

No delay in hearing the instruction on my (old) Vauxhall. Are you playing anything continuous via the the FM transmitter ? - the FM transmitter will turn off in there is nothing playing, and may be slow in starting when it occasionally gets something to play. I usually have some music playing from my N900 and Cygic briefly pauses this to play any instructions/warnings. Works great for me. If you don't want music playing, someone suggested recording a silent mp3 and playing this in a loop in the music player.

Does using media player at the same time not crash the phone? I usually use panucci as most of the music I play is podcasts or long sets and every time the phone crashes after two or three commands from Sygic and I have to take the battery out. This combination is the only thing that makes my phone crash.

No, using mediaplayer and Sygc together does not crash the phone.
In fact they're playing together really well..
