Have you installed the "proj" package? It is required for all WMS-based repositories.

proj may be getting difficult to find, since I can't get it into the new autobuilder-guarded repositories. You can download it here:

proj for bora

proj for chinook

proj for diablo

I wonder why the local newspaper has a much better Google street map of Costa Rica than that one from the Google Street repository for MM.

Can somebody tell me if and how I can use these maps
http://lnmapas.nacion.co.cr/maps/index.shtml
as repository for MM?

Thank you very much!

Hello all...

Question:

Is there any way to run Maemo Mapper on my eee pc?

Failing that:

Is there any know windows (free) program that is similar to MM - that can use GPS to track my progress over a moving map - which ALSO allows me to specify the maps used - such as:

www.skyvector.com
www.runwayfinder.com

Thanks

I just noticed that mapquest (which tends to give better directions than google in my opinion) now has the ability to create .gpx files and send them to garmin devices. I tinkered with it for a while and I think there must be some way to get it to send me the .gpx files without actually having a garmin, but so far it keeps wantint me to plug in my garmin device.

There must be some way to get around this. Anyone have any ideas?

It seems that Google has recently changed the URL for satellite tiles and labels overlay. Unfortunately Maemo mapper inserts wrong zoom level into the requests, hence it can't get any tiles.
Labels:
http://mt.google.com/mt?v=w2t.88&x=%d&y=%d&z=%d
Satellite pics:
http://kh.google.com/kh?v=36&x=%d&y=%d&z=%d (no quadtree anymore!)

After reviewing the source code I found the right URLs for the current Google tile servers (REPOTYPE_XYZ_INV , notice the zxy order)
Labels:
http://mt.google.com/mt?v=w2t.88&&z=%0d&x=%d&y=%d
Satellite pics:
http://kh.google.com/kh?v=36&z=%0d&x=%d&y=%d

Layers
These repositories contain transparency and are thus ideal for use as layers on top of the above repositories.

Google Traffic
http://mt.google.com/mapstt?zoom=%0d&x=%d&y=%d

Google Labels
http://mt.google.com/mt?v=w2t.999&x=%d&y=%d&zoom=%d
(use with Google Satellite or Google Terrain for labels for cities, roads, etc., i.e. "Hybrid" maps.)

U.S. Weather Overlay (WMS)

hi all,
by coincidence i change the YahooStreet repository parameter, from v=4.1
http://us.maps1.yimg.com/us.tile.map...=%d&y=%-d&z=%d
to v=4.2
http://us.maps1.yimg.com/us.tile.map...=%d&y=%-d&z=%d
and then, voila.... now i could access the maps from yahoo local maps (http://maps.yahoo.com/)

Here's the URL for OpenCycleMap.org, a cycle map based on open street map data, sponsored by cloudmade.com. Not only for cyclists, it overlays contours onto OpenStreetMap data.
