fix for my problem if anyone gets it
Without wishing to be rude - it's nice you posted a fix and everything - but in a thread that's 130 pages long it's not actually a very helpful post if you don't describe the problem with the solution!

I have decided to flash my device using global firmware, as I think all the apps I installed/unistalled since November would have slowed my device down.

I went down the route of reflashing. It didn't go well :-( - ven after eMMC+fw flash my ex-203 handset is not working properly :-(

I started a new thread for that specific issue

I successfully flashed the firmware and eMMC and my phone is much much faster than before when Im going through the menus.
I purposely did not backup settings and applications list, because Im sure it reinstalls a load of unwanted crap on to the phone and that kind of defeats the purpose of flashing, its better to just have a clean phone and install all programmes manually etc

But that's exactly my point. Say i have a problem - do I search back in every thread where people say they have resolved an issue? Just quoting your original post would have been really helpful.

Hi. I found a workaround to upgrade via OTA when N900 force you to upgrade via USB...

just temporary uninstall applets like cpu-mem-applet that are integrated with the desktop and then try again...It worked for me...!!!

Hope this helps anyone else.
Cheers!

Pablo.

I managed to resolve my problem (see http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...285#post537285 ) -- I could not get the "RX-51_2009SE_3.2010.02-8_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin" firmware to work properly, but eventually (!) installed the "gold" firmware and then applied updates.

Now on PR1.1.1 global
