Was this an update delivered over the air? I've not seen anything yet... Plenty of third-party updates but no maemo update. Am in the UK and advice appreciated. (Sorry if this is a muppet question...)

Quick summary - New firmware released.
UK build revisions (look for 203 and 205 in the firmware number) have yet to receive it over the air although it seems the rest of the world has. No news when UK is getting it - could be hours could be weeks.
The firmware has no major changes but sad people like me have flashed their devices to a global firmware as we can't bear being left out. We also don't want to be last to get any future, intersting releases.
You'll need to read all 130 odd pages of the thread for the full epic drama of the release.

1 within the hour??
2. not sure. but you can flash back if needed to the uk one. (if and when it comes out)
3. not difficult. 5 mins to download, 10 mins to flash. then took me 45 mins to reinstall my apps. all settings got backed up.
dangerous..... can be..... But hopefully not to your personal health!

The most important thing about flashing is to make sure that the n900 is fully charged and you have a little time to reconfigure it afterwards. Do a backup before you start and it's a surprisingly easy process.
I can't imagine any warranty problems - I would be very shocked if I and all the others who have made the change were to be told that our kit was no longer guaranteed. The good thing about a community like this is that we help Nokia develop their product but we can probably make a significant amount of noise if they start doing something daft like saying that changing the locality of your firmware voids your warranty.
Flashing is not difficult or dangerous - search, read the guides, follow the preparation isntructions and you'll be fine.
That said, this version of the firmware is not a lifechanger and it's possible that the UK will get the next big change at the same time as everyone else with this one bundled in, so there is really no need to rush into it.
