I'm sorry if i speak non-sense, since i don't really know much about coding and stuff, but about this "Selective Sync".. How would it work?

a) It'll be just a list with the address book contacts to choose manually those who we previously know that have a whatsapp account.

b) It will show only those of our contacts who do have whatsapp account to choose who we want on our contact list.

c) Some other way i haven't thought of but tgalal has.

I'm asking because a) wouldn't be practical at all for normal users, though they'd probably choose the auto sync option; and b) would be useless in terms of privacy protection (since it would require the availabilty check of our contacts accounts to know who we can sync in the app contact list)

So, summing up my doubts, will this be just a particular option for those concerned about privacy issues, and will require users to previously know or find out through other means who in their address book uses whatsapp?

In whatsapp there is no way to know who in your contacts uses it unless you send their number to whatsapp, and whatsapp says Yes, this is a whatsapp user, or no. So in this selective sync, you will choose which contacts you want to ask whatsapp servers about, and if you are lucky they will end up in your wazapp contacts. You are just choosing which of your contacts to sync. That is the only solution with maximum possible privacy protection, because this is how whatsapp servers work. But if you have a better solution please let me know.

Can anyone guide me how to run the codes in QT creator or some easy to use emulator to try this app out? I tried for days but just could figure out even with a lot of instructions from QT creator wiki.

Ok guys! Take it easy. I just asked. I did a donation also, and without using the app so I just asked "if" and not "when". Be quiet and don't have a cow... Peace.

Pease don't post pictures, and bugs of versions that are not from the version 2.6 (or earlier), because then we will have 1 Version from tgalal, 1 version from cepiperez and many other versions from others... And this would appear to different bugs of different versions an no one is happy

so please post only bugs (or improvements) of the official wazapp version

& sry for my bad english, hope u understand my post

There is only one version! You misunderstand, the posts shown were of people getting the latest commits from github and then compiling them into their Wazapp app. There is still only one version, see it more as a DIY Alpha

It allows us techies to see the latest commits and actually use them, and then further bug report before the next release comes out

Yeah, i pretty much understand how server queries work, that's why i was asking if the sync would require said query or not.

Unfortunately, i don't think there's any workaround to it, so as i said the only way to do a partial sync would be to find out ourselves which contacts are registered before we attempt to sync them. (or to blindly try our luck with a few selected contacts, as you said, which would sort of defeat the original purpose of not giving them more numbers than they already have)

The drawback of this is that (i suppose) it won't show automatically contacts who register in whatsapp sometime after we'd done the sync, so we'd have to wait for a message from said people to add them manually, or sync them manually once we found out they had registered.

As i see it, this kind of feature is useless for regular users as it is. But I'm glad you decided to take the time to provide a solution for those paranoid people (no offense intended) who can't bear with terms of service.
