They don't need one. They just need to use the Chinook OS2008 SDK.

Altruism and selfishness *together* drive OSS, one or the other on its own just isn't as effective.

I just tried Knips (camera snapshots) from that repository and it works.
Unfortunately it is still using very little jpeg compression... files are close to 300KB each for a 640x480 low quality image.
Edit: Suggestion sent to author.

Just refreshed my repositories and found that CrazyParking, Icebreaker, and TuxPuck were all available for OS2008. Installed and working great on my N800. I tried to update the Wiki but it wouldn't let me, even after signing in.

Red Pill mode in OS2008 has these and most other dependencies. Install them first then install OMWeather from the garage page...
It works but with no transparency.
