Apparently lava flows that result in a sharp jagged crust are called "aa", because that's the sound you make when you walk on it!

WHEN IS THIS GOING TO BE IMPLEMENTED ON MAEMO!?

Heat is generated by fast moving particles. Maemo is too slow to generate heat. I've developed a workaround though, the temperature my forehead hits is close to that of lava after my 770 crashes several times in a 20 minute period and I fly into a rage. I've submitted my application to the developer discount program today and already sent off a slew of complaints about how long it is taking yesterday.

No, he's caught in a paradox : that the EEE, although not much faster than current Maemo hardware, nevertheless generates quite a lot of heat :-)
