You can ask him, and he is obliged to provide source for GPL binaries. But you cannot force him to recompile it for Freemantle or SailfishOS.
I don't get why there are people being agressive for guys not supporting their platforms. You can ask/suggest politely, bot not trying to force somebody to do something for you in their free time(especislly being rude).
Recompiling console app, especially when there were previous versions if this app avaible, means most of dependencies are there already. Learning how to make SPEC or DEB equalivent shouldnt take more than few hours, so everybody that can install custom OS can do it(but is too lazy, and whants other ppls to waste their free time, instead of them)

Ok.
I don`t know where the behaviour of the last two people who posted came from...
I suggest they just drop the respective attitudes.
It may be deemed permissible elsewhere.
But not here.
Keep such combative talk in places like the Jolla subforums where it appears to be accepted behaviour.

@ginggs, are you sure? I count three!

Nevermind, you got me. Just forgot it somehow ...

but looking back at last CC voting with only 48 participants I can imagine there are not that much people left...
So possibly ask council / techstaff / repo administrator if this 5-vote limit still makes sense or if it can get lowered, or even selected packages promoted without votings?

Halfway there!

I think 6 votes is still do-able. The problem is the voting interface is so far out of the way. There was a thread where someone was listing packages in extras-testing and encouraging testing and voting. I'll see if I can find it and revive it.

Edit: Here it is http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=90981

sort of OT in here to reply, but nevertheless I think the election been pointless anyway (as always with a 6 candadates) and I honestly haven't seen much advertising about it, wasn't even mentioned on IRC

promoting packages without voting is possible but should be done only after council themselves did the needed QA. The term "voting" is a misnomer anyway, should be "Quality approved by: ~~~"

That's interesting, because I have see a LOT of advertising about it.

Wow. That reminds me of what happened a few years back at my previous job. There was a talk about starting a new team and I asked for a transfer to that team. The answer I received was, "you cannot transfer, the team does not exist yet, it does not even have a manager yet!"

(Sorry for continuing the OT.)

I did not vote for mc because I do not use it. I did not thank the post in question either because I missed it but I would have thanked it even though I do not use mc because any effort to release software for our beloved devices should be rewarded.

I think we're talking completely different topics, or the whole part starting at "I did not vote" is not even a reply to my post which was about council electionson one hand, and about promoting stuff without peer QA (which needs council or techstaff QA then) on the other hand.

I also don't grok the link between me statin that I seen no (much) mentioning of council elections on IRC #maemo and an anekdote about joining a non-existing team (which otherwise is quite funny)
