I've considered a finding out if it would be better served by being hosted on maemo.org-proper, but never bothered to ask.

The problem, really, is that MXR exists solely thanks to the efforts timeless puts in his spare time. It's not really an "officially" support part of maemo.org
Of course the solution is not to remove it from there but to dedicate some resources to it. It is quite useful.

This mxr is more a priority to be handled by the maemo.org dev team, council, Tero Kojo and/or Ville Lavonius (Development Platform product manager). Go bug them.
