I'm wondering how the preinstalled apps will react after the update.
Will there be a cleanup-problem :/

If you SSU it should keep the apps, whether they're compatible or not I'm not sure how that'd work.
If you reflash, /home and /opt should be cleared now.

sorry if this is in the wrong place. just after some clarification. had a maemo 5 update the other date-downloaded and installed. haven't noticed any differences. I gather there's a further update to come which includes some of the changes ive read about in this thread?

that update fixed few minor issues but it was preparing for pr1.2

Sorry if this was asked and answered before (did try to look): are user created groups in contacts possible yet? I would like to e.g. create "family" to send a single SMS to all at once.

I've coded something of a workaround for that. See gvSMS. It downloads your contact lists/groups from Google Voice and sends either via Google Voice or the phone's SMS.

It's python so it could be modified to accept arbitrary CSV lists of groups although I haven't taken it that far yet. Probably my next step will be to allow any Google account (no Google Voice required) to use the phone's SMS sending.

Then ideally, allow you to create groups from your contacts.

Nope, can't see anything like that in Contacts or Conversations.
