avoid_frequencies exists only in maemo25. in maemo24 125MHz is enabled only if you
specify 124999.

Now, after updating to titan25, I still have the same file with the same 125 and 250 MHz disabled, but I'm not sure if it's used anymore. My guess is that it is. But titan would be the one to know (or someone who have played around with it)

When I try to load starving 125-1000 MHz, with kernel-config load /home/user/.kernel/starving, kernel-config outputs:

loading /home/user/.kernel/starving
/usr/sbin/kernel-config: line 17: syntax error: minfreq*1000

And the loading fails, it remains at normal settings.

What am I doing wrong?

@tonism

Using your starving conf at 500-1000mhz for a day and phone has been completely stable so far with heavy use. Since I just got this phone less than a week ago I can't really comment on overall battery life.

I reset the phone just before going to bed last night and ran htop when waking up to see the only two processes using the CPU overnight were dbus-daemon and bme_RX-51. I have no idea what the latter is and couldn't find any description of it online, anyone have any ideas? The battery drain graph had almost no slope, so I'm happy w/standby time

Thanks a lot for the conf!

Just tested tonisms starving config at 250/900, I tested phonecalls and ran psx4all 15mins.
Worked just fine until I noticed angry birds crashes everytime I try to launch it.
To fix that I added one step more to every voltage field and now it seems to be stable for my n900, but voltages are nearly same compared to titans ulv.

Thanks for pointing out the voltage tables. I'll look into this.

As for including my conf with your profiles, I would be glad, but please hold on with that just yet. It seems that I need to test and modify them little bit.

vigilius, not sure, but maybe you're running older version of titan kernel? maemo24 perhaps?

Naomarik, you're welcome But be sure it is stable and isn't causing any problems. Data corruption, as Noc meantioned, would be a slow and horrible "death" :/

Mine is stable at 1Ghz and also at 1.1Ghz with tonism's starving profile. I'm using it at 500-1000 and 500-1100. (switching between them using Queen beecon Widget) Had no issues with anything yet. Sygic, Angry Birds, DrNokSnes, hours and hours of web browsing using MicroB and a lot of phone calls. I even leave my phone on at night with LCD permanently on with the Flip Clock and use it as my night clock. =P

Mine is stable 500-1150 and I have yet to see any issues whatsoever; I did however take out 600Mhz so that it would be avoided by the latest kernel power settings, as I believe the phone app locks the N900 to this frequency upon exit otherwise? I don't bother with 125 or 250Mhz.

are you sure it's line 17?? this can't be right.
it could be a line ending problem (Windows vs. sane operating systems) with the file starving. try downloading the file with wget.

starving seems to work fine for me so far.
EDIT: no, it does not. without USB cable it crashes quite often.
I have added it to the templates (only default is stable anyway) and I could later update it with your changes.

BTW, you can fine-tune a single frequency with, e.g.
kernel-config lock 250 30 180
and later "kernel-config unlock" to go back to normal

If you are worried about data corruption, you could enable
FSCK_HOME=1 in /etc/default/kernel-boot
to perform file system checks during boot.

ok I got the starving running stable again with maxfreq=850 but I was also able to get the 250mhz voltage value down to 24 and 500mhz value down to 28 I'm a burn my battery down to zero and fully charge then test how long its lasts. BTW on a side note ever since i started overclocking, my battery graph shows that my battery has been "growing" with max charge above 95% like its almost touching the top of the graph now .

EDIT: I tried to play Mahjong but my device rebooted to default kernel so I opened Mahjong with default kernel and conky was said it was running at 500mhz. So I had to raise the voltage for 500mhz back up to 29. Now Mahjong runs fine.
