fud alert. Are you seriously suggesting that 12mpix from 1/1.8 (khrm n8) inch sensor is too much? Have you seen n8 sample images? Those are pure awesomeness, not even talking about 720p with 4x4 pixel binning....

E: zeiss experts have done amazing job with n8's lens based on sample images. Diffraction is next to nothing and nr etc is optimized for details. I'd compare n8 to my 1Ds(11mpix) + 28mm c/y zeiss. Yes 1Ds gives more details but there is no reason duct taping it to your phone... (2+ kg weight plus the size)

and you can always downsize images gaining sharper images but interpolating.....

Given that the new Nokia C7 does support NFC, I can only hope the N9 supports it too.

Best regards.

I am seriously suggesting that those 12mpix have to be coupled with the good lenses and yes, should come in a bigger sensor size.

I have seen real life images from the N8, and they are pretty average, comparable to bottom end digital cameras.

I doubt you really mean all this.

I've also seen them and can say N8 photos are as good as a mid-high end compact digital cameras. Even at ISO800. But why are we comparing it to DSLRs? It's like comparing the best 4 door hatchback (N8) to a 2 door Porche 911 (DSLR). Just be happy for what it is. It's "the best" camera on a mobile phone ever.

I am not comparing N8 to DSLRs. I am comparing it to very budget digital point&shoots, like generic Casio Exilims for example. And Exilim clearly appears to win.

Sure. The space is the same (approx) in both and Casio has better opportunity to process shots. It is difficult to win over a specialized device.

Honestly if the N9 comes with anything but the dual core Cortex A9 I am not interested.

It won't come with an A9.

... which is good for us, isn't it? Lower demand usually means lower price. I'd hate it if you were interested.

I think you're making the whole market for smartphones waay too over simplified. It doesn't really work that way.
