That might be true for the part you quoted, but the second part, "Now I have a nickel in my pocket," does not really apply. In most countries of America, nickels are not a valid form of currency.

Leftovers of the Aigo production run.
When Jolla Tablet backers became aware they would not recieve a tablet, many looked for the aigo.
Sellers realized that an raised prices into unfair levels. The ones available now must be their stash no one wanted to buy overpriced. Some-when last year they suddenly appeared on the market again in small batches.
There was someone on twitter buying them in batches from chinese contacts and sold individually from italy. But that source dried out only 5 days ago.
If you really want to know details, he seems to be the one with most info on that story.

Despite all of my complaining about the Jolla tablet I'd still buy another one, but if they're shipping from China, I'd have to pay half the price in customs taxes. Unless they mark down the price on the package to say it was 20 dollars including shipping.
