The last update was terrible. It totally destroyed my N900. I can list up at least 100 points where the phone got worse. I feel the phone is almost useless, - it can only be used to call out, but it isn't easy to answer incoming calls. How do I to roll back to the previous system?

Almost same for me, the solution i found is that you have to Hard Reset the device after doing that the phone works properly.

Regional settings is irrelevant - what's the full version string reported in Settings/About product?

Can you also report the output from running the following in X Terminal:
Code:
dpkg -l "mp-fremantle*" | grep mp

2.2009.51-1.203.2

Also I'm not sure how to execute that command since I can't find the "|" key... anyway when I just type dpkg -l "mp-fremantle*" it just shows me that same version which I typed above.

the "|" sign can be entered
by pressing the "arrow blue button" and press sym twice.
and you will see a list of symbol appears, then you can type the | character.

That's fine - you've got the UK variant, and that's the latest version that's been released for the UK.

Oh, that's a bummer. So switching regions won't help at all eh?
