Actually with cars increasingly becoming more sophiscated computer wise, there's problems bound to happen (See Toyota recently). Though I believe those weren't the first. I think Ford or GM is starting to have that issue too.
I'm unfamilar with other platforms regarding the bug issue. Does Android and iPhone OS publicly list all the bug fixes and bugs in the system?

I am not an iPhone fan, but I must admit their user interface was far more intuitive for non-IT folks, and it is still hard to beat in this aspect.
