Hi mido.fayad,

I have copied the *.APK files to MyDocs folder and in Android I am using Filebrowser to run it and everytime I click on the file a pop up appears says, 'No applications can perform this action.

I am still trying to install SETCPU and install the HTC Keyboard fix from Page 1, but not having much luck.

Do you know of any other file browsers that can work? I've tried installing Astro File Manager from APP Brain but it keeps telling me to get it from Marketplace, but when I do a search there, it is not found..

Any ideas?

First, do the market fix as explained on the first page. After that is done (might have to try opening Market a few times for it to work) you should be able to search and dl Astro, which then will install those packages.

Ah! Cincibluer6, let me try that. I made the mistake of assuming that my marketplace was working, as i have been able to download some applications.

Thank you, I'll give this a try.

Guys i have running on nitdroid for sometime right now, both of them (froyo 0.0.9 and Gingerbread) and for me its been an excellent experience downloading, reflashing, and fighting with my phone in order to get the software. thks to mido, tele, ammyt who are the genius on this topic, and thks to the other guys who help on this thread. right now i am uninstalling nitdroid gingerbread cause i'll wait for the complete system to be release i mean (phone calls and all the rest of the features a software like this must have). i'll keep looking to this thread to see the updates and to know when is the software completely release. once again thks mido, tele, ammyt because if weren't for u guys this would be different.
good luck

Hi all

I can't mount sdcard(s) in Gingerbread in mmcblk0p5 (/dev/sdg5):

My partitions on mmcblk0 on a linux PC with backupmenu:
Code:
Périphérique Amorce Début Fin Blocs Id Système
/dev/sdg1 1 2865 23013081 b W95 FAT32
/dev/sdg2 3134 3786 5245222+ 83 Linux
/dev/sdg3 3787 3884 787185 82 Linux swap
/dev/sdg4 2866 3133 2152710 f W95 Etendue (LBA)
/dev/sdg5 2866 2999 1076323+ 83 Linux
/dev/sdg6 3000 3133 1076323+ 83 Linux
My partitions on mmcblk1:
Code:
Disque /dev/sdh: 3963 Mo, 3963617280 octets
Périphérique Amorce Début Fin Blocs Id Système
/dev/sdh1 1 1023 3868955 c W95 FAT32 (LBA)
I used this vold.fstab:
Code:
## Format: dev_mount <label> <mount_point> <part> <sysfs_path1...>

# internal sdcard (emmc) Maemo5: /home/user/MyDocs
dev_mount sdcard /sdcard 1 /devices/platform/mmci-omap-hs.1/mmc_host/mmc1

# external sdcard (SDHC) Maemo5: /media/mmc1
dev_mount sdcard_ext /ext_sd 1 /devices/platform/mmci-omap-hs.0/mmc_host/mmc0

Number1: Either install and extract overwrites the previous Android OS.
Number2:The kernals can only be mounted and installed /and and again the problem of over writing each other

I am struggling to find a way to do this without backing up and repartitioning the flash storage.
Theorically it is possible a solution like this:
  • Use a big optFS (Maemo's /home), at least 4GB but bigger is better
  • Create on it an android directory with one subdirectory for each nitdroid version you want to install (i.e. Nitdroid 0.0.9, Gingerbread, Gingerbread mido's version)
    sudo gainroot
    cd /home
    mkdir nitdroid-container
    cd nitdroid-container
    mkdir froyo-1
    mkdir gingerbread-1
    mkdir gingerbread-2
    cd /home
  • Mount the directory
    mount -o bind /home/nitdroid-container/froyo-1 /and
and install your Nitdroid (i.e Froyo) as usual.
    Dismount directory when finished
    umount /and
  • Mount the directory
    mount -o bind /home/nitdroid-container/gingerbread-1 /and
and install your Nitdroid (i.e Gingerbread) as usual.
    Dismount directory when finished
    umount /and
  • Mount the directory
    mount -o bind /home/nitdroid-container/gingerbread-2 /and
and install your Nitdroid (i.e mido's Gingerbread) as usual.
    Dismount directory when finished
    umount /and
  • Modify the multiboot's script to add a "pivot_root to subdir" capability
  • Create 3 multiboot's boot scripts (i.e. 33-froyo.item, 44-ginger1.item, 55-ginger2.item) with correct options on them

The most difficult step is to enhance multiboot's capabilities, but it is an rather easy job for people with linux's script skills
