It IS gone...... This might not be good. We should not be surprised if we get cancellation notices. Not a good sign when Dell pulls a new product from web sales. I see two probable scenarios opposed to us getting our "good deals".
1. They cancel the order
2. They let the orders hang until we cancel ourselves.
They can claim they decided not to carry the N900- at least until this situation dies down.
Dell plays BOTH of these games. They are losing too much money already. If they accepted 1,000 preorders, counting free shipping, they are eating about $30,000. Will probably not happen. Dell would rather stop a delivery of product and let the "bad orders" purge themselves.
Might want to keep Newegg N900 link handy

I think the Dell calls are only going to people who had a mismatch between their billing address and shipping address. On top of that, I had just moved, so there was some confusion apparently about the billing address. I doubt you are being left out if you haven't been called.

from the slashgear review:
"Those gestures – and that decent lick of speed – is shared by the browser, aided by the fact that HTC have continued to shun Microsoft’s own Internet Explorer Mobile (which we found struggled to render pages correctly) and instead make Opera Mobile the default."
considering that opera mobile uses opera's server to cache images and prepare websites, it's actually a quite pathetic result for the HD2
*headdesk*
what part of "Nokia UK are saying shipping starts on the 9th, consistently, for the past 3 weeks" have you missed?
I thought they were the same thing. Don't MPD run Nokia retail? How is this different from Nokia UK? I'm pretty sure that they claimed somewhere on their website that they would be the first to get N900s in the country and to dispatch (I can't damn well find the webpage, but they definitely said it).

What part of "The devices will not magically appear, Nokia will issue an official press release as soon as they ship." did YOU not understand? Nokia will tell us when they ship to the resellers, as that has not happened how can those resellers possibly know when THEY are shipping to the individual shops?
