I'm pretty sure the tax-fiasco was corrected after 25th November. I paid my pre-order on 25th and had to pay the full price (€399), but when I checked back a few days later, the cost of the device had already been reduced to €312.

And probably also customs duty...although I'm not sure about that since it's coming from an EU country - the hole thing confuses me anyways

The only thing I want now is my Jolla on Monday 23/12 before 6pm (that's where I leave to visit my family & my holiday starts). Let's hope it works out!
I've already written Jolla care about this, no response yet (though tbf I'm not in a hurry and not expecting to get a response either until the shipments are done).

So, they've removed the Finnish tax (24%) on both the phone and the delivery, which is correct.

Here's my order summary [100Euro pre-order] where I've paid Finnish tax on both the phone and delivery - which I should not do

Norwegians can expect tax (at 25%) to be added, no other customs charges........(unless Fedex charge a handeling fee on top...)

Here's a tax calculator for Norway:

Caprico,

you're with me and other 100Euro pre-orders shipping outside of EU.

You've paid Finnish tax (24%) on both phones and the delivery, something you should not have.

Us outside the EU should have been charged:
Phone...........................303.24Euro (399Euro including Finnish taxes)
Shipping for one phone...11.4Euro (15Euro including Finish taxes)
In total...........................314.64Euro

Isn't the phone 321.77€ + 80.13€ VAT = 399€. So the phone should be 321.77€ without taxes. That's at least what I get on my order page.

I am happy that finally my order went into "In Picking" status. It is still in the same status. However, I won't have my Jolla by Xmas since I am leaving today for almost one month. Had the phone been sent one day before (wednesday), it would have arrived today.

Well, I get my delayed Xmas present in January.

Thank you Jolla, since you kept the promise to send all the phones by Xmas. However, a little better communication and openness would have been appreciated by many of us. (no irony, I mean it for real )

Also the people from Jolla Care could have been more "responsive". I wrote them some days ago a request for changing the delivery address. And until now this request has still not been assigned to any agent.

Merry Xmas to all, and enjoy your Jollas! (well, the ones of you who will have it in your hands).

I'm no Finnish VAT expert by any means so I might well be wrong in my previous calculations.
Like ziller, I've too sent a query to care@jolla.com to clarify the VAT situation.

Here's how I've calculated the numbers.
For the current Finnish VAT rate look here:
http://www.vero.fi/en-US/Precise_inf...alue_added_tax

24% of 399€ (399*0.24) is 95.76€.
399€ - 95.76€ = 303.24€

Your phone has had a flat VAT rate of (321.77€/399€=0.8064411027568922) 19.4% deducted.
How they got to that figure I do not know.

BTW: LordSnick with the 0€ pre-order had to pay the same 321.77€ figure after VAT had been deducted shipping to Norway: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...postcount=1440

My main point still stands though. No tax has been deducted from my order at all, so far.

In EU, VAT is added to the VAT-free price. If the price including VAT is 399,00 €, then VAT-free price is 399,00 € / 1,24 = 321,77 € and VAT is 399,00 € - 321,77 € = 77,23 € (= 24 % x 321,77 €).

The correct formulas are

399e/1.24=321.77e for VAT 0% from full price
321.77e*1.24=398.99e for VAT 24% from VAT 0% price

Thank you for the explanation IlkkaP and att, I stand corrected.
