@LTMan : No corporate statement. I will not give any hint yes or no as i can be in trouble. Somethings should be a surprise , right ?
If you are on the devel end of things, it shouldn't be difficult to voice to the right people that bringing swype to the N9 is a smart move upon release, since it's already for symbian it shouldn't prove too difficult.

Thanks for the info.

I used to think that a slide-out keyboard is always superiour, but reasons why I changed my mind are:

- The excellent work of the VKB team, I wasn't exposed to really good on-screen keyboards before

- The convenience of doing everything without switching grips, and a context sensitive keyboard (which includes the possibility of unconventional text input like swype)

- No HWKB means a much slimmer, lighter, and tighter device, and a UI that is optimised for on-screen text input (e.g. on the N900, the VKB was somewhat neglected due to the existence of the hardware keyboard)

I understand that for some very specific use cases (e.g. massive terminal use or even programming on the go...), a HWKB is a must. But for most practical purposes, I now believe that a touchscreen-only device provides the better experience.

What's the "discounted device program"?
I'm all over it if the qwerty n9 turns out to be dev. device only.

my year old prediction about the n1000 (as i termed it back then) might turn out pretty close to the mark:

I thought at the time they would ditch the keyboard for a consumer-centric device.

a NDA forbids you to tell anything about a non-released device you may have learned thru your job, not telling us what your job is.
chances are you are a cashier in a supermarket.
and don't know s#!t.

If, hypothetically, he would actually be working for Nokia and telling the truth, then in this hypothetical situation, this hypothetical person would not want to be identified.

Even commenting on the validity (or otherwise) of this persons statements could be a breach of NDA, so there is no way that you will get proof.

You will just have to keep speculating. Some predictions will turn out true, others will turn out to be bogus, as always.
