Igot the same problem updating my N800 today. I can't manage to disable the applet before the white box comes up although I've tried about 50 times. Is this something that eventually resolves itself anyway or do I just have to keep trying?

Hi Vlad,
I ran "Check for updates" yesterday and it said an update was available so I ran that. I can't get far enough to check what version I've got. I get the "Other Maemo Weather Settings" white box. I can get as far as selecting home, applets and unticking Omweather (sometimes!) but after clicking "OK" the white box appears before it is accepted.
It occurs to me that what the N800 needs is a "safe" mode (say by pressing a key combination on starting) which only starts up the tools required for removing applications and applets. Has anybody done something similar? Is it possible?
I've tried another 50 times and no joy. I only got it 5 days ago (second hand). Hope I haven't got an expensive brick!

Does not have a cycle reboot if by that you mean it repeatedly boots on its own.
What happens is that after booting OMWeather displays a blank box stating "Other Maemo Weather Settings". This is IN FRONT OF anything else on the screen. All button and key presses are then ignored. You CAN press the buttons before OMWeather runs, but there just is not time on my N800 to disable OMWeather. That is what I've been trying to do. I'm trying to avoid re-flashing. Others have longer before OMWeather starts to get in and disable it. Others, like me, don't - see GabbaGabbaHey's post an others at
