Oh, don't say anything. - I'm sitting here with all my money saved for a new tablet (€ 350 and not one single cent more), and it's not going anywhere until Nokia ships the device. Doesn't matter if it's christmas or next fall. I'm not even looking at other temptations.

It's just the feeling that this N800 of mine is full of wrinkles, losing both hair and teeth and doesn't react to girls the way it used to. You know... I long to have something more young and vital sitting on my lap again. And I'm disappointed it isn't already here for us to worship.

I wouldn't pay €350,- for you to touch it.

(Nothing personal... it's just that I don't know the specs.)

I think quite the opposite happened. We know they decided to skip Elephanta (what would have been Maemo 5) and push Fremantle (Elephanta+1) forward instead. This must have had some impact on the hardware design as well. It's quite possible the original plan was for another OMAP2-based tablet in Q4, but personally I'm quite happy to wait a few extra months for something better.

Hey, at least I didn't brag about the fact that I have an item worthy of worship.

Well, doesn't matter anyway:

Some of us have the N800-successor coming this November!
Or the closest thing, anyway (just minus the camera and FM).

Just a note; if you want to put a bit of vitality back in your tired old tablet, make a script that pegs the processor:

cpu-perform
Code:
echo performance >/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
This makes things a lot more snappy. Battery life will suffer accordingly, but this is the little blue pill for your limp little tablet.

To come down off your high, run this script:

cpu-ondemand
Code:
echo ondemand >/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
My tests have shown that this can make even desktop apps like OpenOffice usable on the tablet.

So while most of us have to wait a loooong time for OMAP3, we might as well push our old OMAP2 as hard as they'll go!

(thanks, lcuk, for the tip!)
