Assuming you got the video, it should show you the speed -- now that's over some pretty good cable, in the same town as my office computer (which is what I was accessing) with pretty good bandwidth there, too. It's over the internet, but not horribly much of it.

I don't find the speed to be a problem -- I haven't gotten to tunneling RDP through an EDGE link, but VNC is just barely useful that way.

As for the screen, yes, I'm running portrait mode. In matchbox, you can rotate without much trouble -- FVWM has a bit more trouble, as it remembers where the edges of the screen were, but I'm set up to easily swap between the two, and FVWM does fine if you stay in the one you started it in.

As for the config, most of it is straight from iiiedokeiii's stuff, with some changes to accommodate my rxvt and xvkbd builds, IIRC.

Benson,

Yeah I finally got the video.....my work email must of blocked it, but my home email sent it through. That is a lot faster than I thought it would be....!! That is a neat trick for the N800 to have a keyboard on the bottom.....but it will be nice to have all that real estate for video on the N810. I have been reading up on the FVWM config files, and that is one powerful program.

We have comcast cable, and the speeds are fantastic, so it should be really speedy. I was mainly more concerned with the speed of the N810 putting up the screens and scrolling the graphics. But it looks great.

I will check out Matchbox....and see what that is all about....it is so funny, am like a kid in the candy store....hehehe I got my kids totally hooked on the windows version of Numpty Physics.....LOL!!

The linked thread has the download, and pretty much covers the installation. Note that the OP covers one way of stopping matchbox, but there's one or two better (less invasive) options later in the thread, so read the whole thing before you start.

(And further discussion of FVWM-specific issues would be better-placed over there, too.)

Will the pydesktop program work with command line commands? What I am ultimately trying to ask is if it is possible to create a script that will start the program, fill in all the required information, and make the initial connection without user input? I have a script that I currently use with the command line version of rdesktop. I just want to know if this is possible with pydesktop because it is a much better program IMHO. Nice job so far!

Here is the script I am using on the old program.
Code:
rdesk -f -u USERNAME -p PASSWORD -z IP_ADDRESS

Just use the command line that's installed with pyRdesktop. Use rdesktop-cli instead of rdesk.

Thanks. I tried several names (like pydesktop, etc) and nothing had worked. Rdesktop-cli worked fine when I tested it in x-term. Now I just need to update the script and everything should be great.

Thanks, i just used your program, had the regular rdesktop before, but i have to say, this beats it hands down. It much more stable and I can finally use it as a tablet to draw on the PC. Thanks!

No updates? I'm guessing you are very busy, but if you get a chance I'd still love to see a 770 build...

Thanks, Tony

Thanks for this!
It connects just fine to a win2k box I have at home (or at least as far as the sign-on screen).
One question: how do I get an N800 to show the keyboard when it can't detect that it's in a text field? No way to actually sign on without entering text.
