I'm not saying it makes sense - but from the material on their website, it's unclear how many of the internal usb ports are "pre taken".
They state: "7 USB ports: three external, four internal, three of them may be reserved for wifi, bluetooth and keyboard"

Hey, that's why they increased the number of USB ports. Also, reserved likely also means 'if you don't want BT or wifi you can use the port for something else, but if you do, it must be in that port'.
It's not that big of a difference, actually - if you want to use more stuff, you'd start looking like a porcupine anyway (and it wouldn't be too healthy for battery life either).

Edit: where'd the OTG go ? so it's 7 and not 8... must learn to add single digit numbers...

You can get some fairly small SD to USB adapters, so I should be able to use some of my SD cards as extra internal storage, of course, you could always copy the OS to a shiny new (or old) 32GB SD card and increase storage that way. And upgrade later to 64GB if needed, much cheaper and quicker than waiting for microSD.

Taking some cues from the EEE crowd, small USB hubs should be easy to add. I'll bet you could even add an extra battery in the screen (if you didn't want to take the keyboard), or even an extra one in the keyboard.

If the keyboard does use a USB port, I'll bet you could hack it to run off of a hub instead, and add extra ports/storage in the keyboard. Actually that doesn't sound like a bad idea at all.

Why? Any standard desktop environment (let's say, kde but even lxde) is way better.
I'm growing tired of the "only one visible windows, no menu bar" of matchbox/maemo, even on the tablet, on a screen this size it would be unbearable for me.
Don't get me wrong, mer is very good considered the limitations of the tablet, but I don't see why you should straitjacket yourself into it where there are no such limitations.

I can undestand the frustration with one visible window - but why do you need to see the menu bar?

I don't really need it, but most (all?) applications not specifically ported to hildon have one.

Because we have so much expandability on our current tablets?

Actually, I rather like expandable ports in lieu of features. It lets me buy something cheaper and ADD on all the features I want.

Most importantly, with wifi/bt/radio on a dongle--if I ABSOLUTELY want to know that there's no radio on at all at any time (ie: on a flight), I will be absolutely certain that it's completely radio-free.

And perhaps equally important -- you can be absolutely certain that it's power-drain free! Of course, the flip side is more power draw when it's in use, so it's not necessarily a clear win for power, but I definitely like the flexibility.

Got one better: Actually 'future proof' by truly being able to add on WHATEVER kind of wireless or service you want--no vendor lock in or waste of money on hardware you won't use.
