You know we have a little bit of a problem where everyone isn't fighting for the same thing and arguments are getting crossed. Yes munkey261 the plain jane vbulletin theme should work, but I haven't seen anyone asking for it really because you still have what people call wasted space and its still light background with dark text. It should be updated when vbulletin is updated.

Then some people are wanting the classic theme back which if i'm not mistaken was still light with black text. So it still wouldn't help people who want a light theme, and still it had a lot of so called wasted space. If someone would step up and update this theme maybe they would bring it back.

Then some people want the n810 v2 theme back where it was dark the people who complain about wasted space has more to complain about here then anywhere with that huge image up top (which btw i liked) it also would need someone to keep it up to date.

Lets even do my minimalist theme it has some wasted space which i'm working on, it is going to come in light and dark backgrounds. I know some people are not going to like the fact that I'm adding more features and in part using more space. Then again some people didn't like that it was missing features. The point is a theme I take my time on and I work on I don't get paid to do it I don't even get that many thanks. I think when the first version came out Reggie got more thanks for his post talking about it then I did. Which is fine I use it and I like it so I really don't care if anyone else does.

Some people are saying that Nokia should pay someone to make a theme, well I haven't gotten my check yet. Who knows if some money gets thrown my way I might be willing to do a dark theme that would make everyone happy, but then again some people would get mad because I wanted money to do it.

The entire reason for this post is to say that some people want some things and some people want other things, but almost no one wants to do the work themselves, or even come to the meetings or reply in message groups about the site. I designed minimalist theme because I wanted it not because I was asked to.

If I repeated my self on some things or just rambled on sorry. The point is I think we could have several themes if people are willing to design them and update them. I would say that neither the n810v2 or the classic should be uses since they show images of a tablet. There are so many tablets now and a new one coming it should be device neutral.

All in all a good summary Andrew, right on the spot... now, one thing after another :-)

Havent seen people asking for it?!?!?!? I think you need to read this thread and the other thread about the new look in their entirety. There is quite a few. And you possibly made my point by saying it should work....if that is so, why isnt it an option? I dont give a damn about a unified look throughout maemo, I want an option for what I and most others are used to. This pointless integration was shoved down our throats and our options were taken away.Whats next....matching uniforms for all maemo users?

Dang, I had a 5 paragraph response to this that I just lost by hitting my backspace key while editing it...

The argument some of us had about how it seemed that decisions about this forum were based on discussions that took place in other components of maemo.org without the input of some active forum members has been made. What's done is done and we can only look forward to see if this is now being considered.

Earlier someone mentioned overall forum statistics to help prove a point. These statistics may be of no value as traditionally all forum views drop at this time of year. It may be due to the weather as people usually don't post while they are cutting the grass and whatnot.

Some say statistics can never "prove" a point, however the data can be used to support an idea.

For instance, this thread and one on the Redesign of Minimalist Theme were both posted within hours of each other on the same day.
This thread has received 147 replies so far. The other thread, only 60. To some this would support the idea that forum members by a ratio of almost 2.5 to 1 would rather complain about changes that have already occurred than become actively involved in making changes that will affect them in the future.

Exactly what point was that post supposed to make? At the end of the day the fact is an integration, a POINTLESS integration was forced upon us, options were taken away that work on every other similar forum, and were told to get used to it....sieg heil!

What I fail to understand is that the Council, and Reggie and others have been actively discussing from my understanding how to address this problem. From my understanding they are working on a solution. Why they would not want to talk about this, or hold open discussions as to how this will happen, I am not sure. Some if this is perhaps hurt feelings, but it is only continuing to divide the community. When instead they could say, hey, we are going to address some of the concerns like X or Y and we anticipate this taking X or Y amount of time.

This is the only thing that has me settling down, but obviously not everyone has the same information.

Now perhaps I am wrong, and I have again tricked myself into thinking that this is what is happening. I am using the wait and see approach, at this point.

Reggie?, Council?, is a solution underway to address some theme alternatives? If so can we please talk about them so we can settle the community down and get on to other topics...

Can we get a status update regarding this topic???
