Thats exactly my point. It looks like image quality is significantly reduced with the scripts compared to the build in application.

Is there a way to see if the halo effect is caused by the scripting or a fault in the camera's flash programming? How possible is it for the Council to approach Nokia about possibly bringing this feature to the camera app itself to cut out the middleman?

My guess would be that the build in cam app corrects 2nd order aberration induced by the lens. I might be tottally wrong with that, but in that case it could get a little bit more tricky to build a HDR app.

Again there is a QT based app and library that does HDR, any takers on the porting of it?

So I have taken two quick HDRs from the same scene, one with the script and one with manually switching exposure. Quality is pretty bad, I didnt use a tripod, so they are somewhat unsharp, but anyway, you see the difference, there is no halo in the manually taken one.

Scripted HDR

Manual HDR

Hi all,

We've just released an experimental app for improving N900 camera, it does HDR among other things. The alignment function is now rather simple, so you'll want to put the phone on something steady to get a good HDR with no misalignment artefacts. In future we'll make it possible to shot HDR from hands (we already have a good alignment algorithm in our PC app, the challenge now is to force it to a mobile ).

The app is free, check http://BlessN900.com

Your feedback is welcome.

Downloading. Will let you know how it works out. Thanks for this very much.

Ok So on first open of it (yes I did reboot) It crashed. Second open worked fine. Its night here so only tested the blur and zoom features but I do have to say they seem to work. Using a flash is pretty much pointless however as it puts a wicked halo on the images. I am going to go try a few night shots outside. Looking good so far though.

Seems to work pretty nicely when it doesn't crash. I've had 5 crashes before it was able to take any pictures, but the low light shots come out pretty good. There is some conflict with the regular camera app as it now doesn't work at all. Any picture take with the default camera when sliding open the lens cover causes my N900 to reboot!
