@cardiff-blues: Can you tell me the file structure / file extension of your maps folder for Sygic please? If it is different to other versions Sygic uses a different map format for Maemo which would be bad
I got an email from Sygic regarding the maps:

It is not possible. You will need to download application and maps form OVI store. Application will be smaller than current application for other OS. So I believe that your internet connection won’t be big problem.
So I want to be sure.

Apparently Africa doesn't exist.
Or has no streets maybe!
Oh well, I guess I'm stuck with Ovi 1 Maps...
Anyway the thread title should be sygic announces turn-by-turn navigation for some countries for Maemo - it clearly isn't worldwide. :-)

I hope this will be addressed when the product is available for purchase, but I have a really bad feeling about it
Yeah, I also noticed that.. I travel all over europe all the time, so if they don't offer me the possibility to buy all of europe at a reasonable price I don't have much incentive to buy. For the nokia n95 it is 80 euros for the whole of europe which is not cheap but acceptable from my point of view.

Exactly, I don't have any problems paying 80 euros for the whole European map, but no way I'm paying 40 or 50 for Spain alone. If they don't offer full European maps (like they do in every other device), I won't buy it.

I just emailed Sygic about it, I hope I will get an answer soon.

dont know if you can read too much into what maps are showing as available on sygic's store. Have you looked at the download file sizes. US east coast is 1.7GB and west coast is 100MB. I dont know much about the american road system (apart from the fact that they use the wrong side ) but I am sure there is not that many more roads on the east.

On what page did you see that? I mailed them and asked if they would bring out a reduced 'benelux only' version and they said that was not in the planning.

Never mind. I see it here: http://sygic.com/index.php/en/how-to-buy.html

My wish has been granted

Just got an email response from Sygic:

Dear sir,

European maps has to be split due to application size restrictions on the Maemo platform. On the other hand, it is not a problem to use more packages at once – you will be able to navigate from Sweden to Italy without any problem for example.

Thank you for contacting support and your interest in our products!

Sygic website shop doesn't give the option of Australian & NZ maps on the Maemo version ? Hope this is not true.

thanks for writing them, but it's still not quite clear to me if the "split" is only of a technical nature (as in, you pay for Europe and download the maps indivdually), or if it's a business thing, meaning you have to buy the maps individually?

I just mailed them back asking that same question, because I'm afraid that purchasing every individual map will be much more expensive than those €79,95 that every other platform has to pay for the full map
