This delay seems abnormally long to me. Nokia could have forestalled our impatience by projecting a time frame like "six months or so" when it was first mentioned, or with frequent status updates.

Also, the fact that so many people found the leaked version so useful is a pretty good argument that it should have been officially released.

I think the reason it seems so long is the short time between 1.1 and 1.1.1 (which for some reason I thought was more of a tweak to prep for 1.2). The the rather unexpected release of the 1.2 SDK lead people to assume that the release of PR1.2 was imminent. This prompted the change to the auto-builder, which caused problems, but made even more people believe 1.2 must be right around the corner.

From the link several posts up, it sounds more like Nokia is doing a lot of tweaking (and perhaps causing more bugs) rather than adding more fixes/content. Still sounds to me like they're waiting on other groups contributions (Ovi store, maps) and figure they may as well tweak until those other items are ready instead of releasing without them. I am beginning to suspect 1.2 will be the last major update, all the more reason to spend time tweaking.

Looks like it's time to do a little more reading, then install the leaked version this weekend.

Yup, I'm about ready to give up on waiting, too. If it's good enough to release to Hong Kong, then it must be good enough to release.

Unfortunately, I doubt they're waiting on maps, but I would love to be wrong on that one.

Leaked PR1.2 have bugs.

Bluetooth disconnected when connecting to the wifi but reconnect after.

Arrow keys (left and right) stopped working with switching home screens.

camera is slower to processing captured image, loss of quality. But there is also something i love about it. The options for the camera is now like a proper N series device. But changing “exposure” is broken. If you increase the exposure to brighter, then the whole camera module will not see anything, or should i say blind.

Thing i find it annoying is the new keyboard layout's spacebar. Why on earth do they make the number next to it on the right handside? whenever i pressed “space” i hit “1#+” instead. I'm a right handed person why can't we change it to the left as an option?

Things i like is the Volume is now work even the device is locked.

By the way Cambodia is freaking hot! i'm totally cooked by the humidity and the sun. I managed to get the internet in this hotel on my N900.

10.2010.12-9 is a test version spread out to testers in April. It was never foreseen going public.
There are several bugs (even in the public bug tracker; i.E. 9974) mentioning " 2010-04-21 ...I'm using a test version (10.2010.12-9). …"
PR1.2 will come when it's ready - meaning all the Regression testing is done.

Perhaps maps is a bit of a long shot. But I figure that the next device running MeeGo, should (hopefully, as it is step 5 of 5 ) be on par with other high end phones. This would include map software, presumably written in QT. If Nokia doesn't get something reasonable on the N900, IMHO, I would laugh at, then write off any attempt by Nokia to list "Maps/Navigation" as a selling point on a MeeGo phone.

So, to get back on topic, I don't think it unreasonable that Nokia should be looking to include "MapsQT 1.0" on the N900 and get some real life feedback. I suspect other updates will be minor bugfixes, so I hope this is part of the holdup on 1.2 (waiting for the Maps devs to finish up).
