Apart of our little off-top, I have to say Qole had a damn right. If PR 1.3 was the last chance to change something in this matter, this threat will die with the last hope...

But once again I'll would like bring you back here and enjoy your future device

ActionScript is just as much ECMAScript standard as Microsoft's J++ was Java standard. Embrace, extend... and of course, exclude everyone else. Ahem. Laaaaaaame. heheh

Yeah Adobe Flash / Flex / AIR really sucks, that why NASDAQ uses it.

Because NASDAQ only uses things that are excellent, right? Reminds me of the time the NYSE tried to upgrade all their system to a Windows-based software system... and it crumbled horribly, just to be quickly replaced with the current (far more efficient and reliable) Linux based one.

Just because they messed up in the past doesn't mean the current system is not good.

Have you even watched the video?

Flash / Flex / AIR works the same no matter the OS underneath, so what's your point?

Thanks, don't use RSS (FF built-in RSS is pretty ordinary IMO), guess I'll just keep visiting those pages.

Or no doubt something will show-up in this thread...
Prolly already has, about to catch-up on some reading

Thanks again!

By that same logic, just because things appear to be working well doesn't mean that there isn't a bunch of inherent flaws and vendor lock-in licenses and code that are lurking. I'll take standard ECMAscript over ActionScript any day, given how well things went with Microsoft vendor-lock in after their embrace, extend and exclude methods worked soooooo well on everyone else's behalf. :P

Note that the TI page lists two versions of Flash plugin they offer for their Cortex-based SoCs:

-Android 2.2 Webkit
-Firefox on Linux/X11

So, a "Flash 10.1 for Meego" should work on Maemo directly.

Of course, the only people who would be able to "backport" Flash would be people with access to the source code, which quite severely limits who qualifies as "someone".

Of course, Adobe could just release it on their site like they do for x86 ...

Anyway, this is a good reminder of why a non-standards-based technology should not be the foundation of web sites.

MeeGo 1.1 for x86 uses an official repo hosted by adobe.com.

Maybe we should start asking around(linux foundation, etc) what they're doing about bringing FP10.1 to MeeGo for ARM.

Assuming Adobe can distribute it the same way, they can retain the ability to push out updates fast just like they do with Android.

x86 repos: core, netbook, non-oss, updates-core, updates-netbook, updates-non-oss, adobe

arm repos: core, handset,non-oss, updates-core, updates-handset, updates-non-oss
