I can't really member the exactly how it went but there was certainly rumors about it before the Maemo Conference.

Eldar just offered pictures, features, review, whatnot just before it got announced.

Very true.

I wonder just how many got in to it because of the 2 awesome youtube adverts that where launches right after the announcement.
Hyped so many of us who had been waiting the device for long long time.

I don't remember where I saw it for the first time, but even I loved symbian then (had a N95 and 5800) I knew I wanted one. So five or six days after it appeared in a local retailer I went for it.

none, which so ever!
thus
FCC certification + (leaked ~ teasing) video = consumer phone
it surely makes a difference... If it wouldnt, companys wont need to make a NDA. E.g. think about apple and informations about new devices. They would do the same if a teaser about a future phone is leaked. Regardless if it will be sold in a week or a month. Thats normal business, because they want to get all attantion when it is officially announced. rumors can be good for devices, but to much rumor can be fatal for a new device

unless there is a 2nd device, obviously, there is a keyboard.

any proof of the existence of a 2nd device?
anyone?
well, i presented my evidence & there doesn't seem to be any contender, so i'll provide a couple reasons why i believe the RM-680 will be the consumer device and the only Maemo / MeeGo dev. this year (thus that developers will have to live w/ that device too).
the two reasons are actually one, supported by two top NOKIA exes.
i hope they won't get fired because they provided evidence for the non existence of something the company didn't plan to sell in the 1st place?

1st Elop said there'd be one MeeGo device this year.
he didn't say only one because even only one is already too much for his taste, but, well, he said so.
and i guess he would definitely be the one to nip in the bud any 2nd MeeGo device (that would divert resources from Wx devices, obviously)

2nd Rich Green.
for the sake of simplicity i'll refer to an earlier post where i already presented the evidence provided by Rich Green (NOKIA's CTO) (more in an effort to prove that NOKIA's vision extended beyond LostDOS se7en Paralysed then to prove there would only be one MeeGo dev this year, but one MeeGo device seems to be all that he's talking about and all that's needed...)
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...9&postcount=24

still, anyone, any tangible evidence of a 2nd MeeGo device this year?

do you really thing it would have taken NOKIA three days to get it off the air if they didn't want it there in the 1st place?
the only reason not to leave it on line eternally is because it was showing the one and only MeeGo device we'll get from NOKIA this year & it will be a CONSUMER device. good that ppl have a good chance to have a good look @ it, not good they get bored with it
(remember Apollo 13, the 3rd mission to the moon? it didn't even get on television before the explosion... "getting to the moon isn't that exciting anymore" )

if it is only a developer device, what does NDA matter?
