In response to your concern, we would like to inform you that upon verification, your device with serial number <my_N900_serial_number> appears to be within the initial warranty period. We suggest that you send your Nokia N900 for repair/check up for further physical evaluation of your mobile device. For repair instructions, please refer to the information that we have provided below:

KEEPING your DATA (contacts, ring tones, applications, etc.)

1. To protect your privacy, all personal data and user installed applications will be erased from your device during the repair process.
2. Prior to sending your device in for repair, you MUST back up your personal data including contacts, pictures, downloaded ringing tones and graphics, games and anything else you may have added to the device.

Getting your repair done

1. Complete the repair form and include with your device.
2. Make a copy of the form for your records and for reference when tracking your repair.
3. Include a copy of your proof of purchase/sales receipt (if available) so we may verify your warranty.
4. Do NOT include battery, charger, back cover, headset, car kit or other accessories unless related to your specific issue.
5. If your device uses a SIM (Smart Chip) Memory Card (MiniSD, MicroSD, Reduced Size Memory Card or Multimedia Memory Card), please remove them and keep for use when your device is returned.
6. Pack your device securely in a box or padded envelope and include your return address on the outside of the package. Ship the device, prepaid, to the following address:

7. Ship your device via a method that provides a tracking # and requires a signature upon delivery. (If a Nokia representative does not sign accepting receipt of a package, Nokia does not accept any liability for lost product. We also recommend that you insure your package as Nokia is not responsible for loss or repairing damage that occurs during shipment.)

NOT covered by Warranty

1. Liquid and physical damage are not covered by the warranty.
2. If the liquid damage indicator dot located under the battery is red or pink, the phone may have been exposed to either direct liquid contact or high humidity levels that are not covered by warranty (some potential causes of liquid damage: reaching for phone with wet hands or in rain, repeated exposure to high humidity as in bathroom or indoor swimming pool area.) Please note that the Technician may still determine that there is liquid damage even if the indicator is not pink/red.
3. If your phone is out of warranty (for instance, due to age or physical or liquid damage), please contact the Nokia Authorized Service Centre at 1-800-668-5649 ext. 1243 prior to shipping in your unit. There is a charge and approval required prior to generating an estimate for repair. For further information on "Out of Warranty Processing" please contact the Nokia Authorized Service Centre.

Just called Care Centre again, and they said that it's definitely not covered by warranty. And if they were to send it to Nokia, they would bounce it straight back. Can I call Nokia direct? Anyone got a number for UK?

I have had 2 replacement n900s due to the port becoming detached/coming out. If you go to nokia.co.uk/repair you can book it in for UPS to collect your device to go back to Nokia.

I dont know who you called or what part of the UK your in and for some idiot to tell you that needs to be either sacked or is a dummm asss because it is a recognised fact now by Nokia that the USB port is a design fault.

For gods sake man get a grip and have a real go at the idiots !!!!.

Makes me so sad to read garbage like this.

Mine just broke last night, I was plugging in my charger and it completely separated from the board. The Nokia USA site is buggy right now and wont even let me check the warranty or the submission for a repair, tried it on 3 browsers. I believe it had 2 dead pixels anyway, so hopefully they will just replace it, back to my old trust e71. Its strange having a phone that actually is usable as a decent phone again.

yeah, its not working, i bought mine from US to check my warranty (not my n900 though).

when i got my n900 for the first week, i saw this thread, and still young. someone posted the "prongs file strategy" to reduce the grip of the USB connectors. in the future, you got your device back (repaired or replaced), we recommend to file the prongs on the data cable and charger, or look for a another ones without big prongs.

i was pissed to see my n97's usb charger so loose when connected to the phone, but i did not realize that its a solution for my n900. Good luck

I just got off the phone with support they are aware its a known issue, they issued me a rma number and shipping label and Im sending it off, im not newbie to nokia repair service. My n97 had to be serviced 2 times before they replaced it, and then I just simply sold it. Im shipping it off with a letter with the official statement:

Mine is not fallen off but usb port no longer works at all. First it was not charging from mains but was charging from PC. Now it does not charge from PC. It does not even get recognised by PC as being connected at all so I have to use wifi to transfer files.

Unfortunately Nokia have refused to fix it because I live in UK but bought it in Us and they say they do not do international warranties. Doubt I will be getting another Nokia device again unless it is lightyears ahead of the competition. Given Nokia's recent offerings I don't see much chance of that.

the hardware is there but no function.......this is weird. i wonder if another one has this problem?. my n86 has the issue like it is needed to be plugged in and out several times before it charge or be recognized by the pc.

I still question why the mods haven't just re-opened or removed that poll. It was made way too early and should have never been closed.

I would have loved to have seen what the numbers are now.
