NOKIA stock is a great buy. Its doing what it has to do. Symbian is goner, Meego and Maemo were never relevant. So Symbian lost the competition to superior Android and iphone. NOKIA is doing the right thing: focusing on making Taliban phones, where it still enjoys some following, and taking MS as their higher end OS. Whether they survive is unclear, but they have little choice. They took a gamble, and it may payoff or kill them. I tend to be an optimist, as this field of technology is very rapid with innovation. Only time will tell if NOKIA made the right move, but at least they made a move. Prior to Elop, it was business as usual which would have killed them for sure

They did last month (minutes). I feel sorry for the collateral damage but the investors deserve everything they got IMO.

It wasn't the only thing they could have done. Arguing that is like telling someone who is getting sicker and sicker with a cold that the only thing they could do is to commit suicide. Nokia was getting sick but they took the WORST possible choice of all the choices they had. Even doing nothing would be better than suicide! Of course, Elop really didn't want to taste the GREEN ANDROID flavored NyQuil--which would certainly have helped a lot more than taking Windows Phone flavored hemlock.

Microbrains. It's an appropriate label on many levels.

danramos, there's no point trying to talk the voice of reason to lumiaman's ears of nonsense

The Windows 8 introduction is only a few hours away, but it has already been leaked that WP7.5 won't be upgradeable to WP8

I wonder what effect the events of today will have on the share price

Come tomorrow when people calculate that the Q1 was a disaster, the Q2 will be a catastrophe but the Q3 will be a complete Armageddon when it comes to sales - shareholders will be dreaming of that price as low as it is...

Who will buy the current Lumias now?
it's like Meego/Symbian all over again.

"These are the only phones we currently have, they have no real future, but please buy them"

Nokia are going to sink. Recent Lumia customers are going to be annoyed.
