5ghz? Would you say other devices are showing equally strong/weak connections or just the tablet being somewhat worse?
Its only this tablet showing the really weak connection.

10m is honestly pretty decent distance (if not in line of sight)
It is pretty much in line of sight no wall in between just a door and that is open.

Hmm, i have no problems with the Tablet and Fritzbox 7490. Do you use the webcat or original Webbrowser to watching videos? Tell me what app you use and site. i want to test it for you.

is it possible that you are connected with the guest wifi?

If you like to see online TV, TV shows, Movies, you can use Kodi app for this...
Small instruction how to install Kodi app on your Jolla tablet.
1. Download this package from naytsyrhc's link (thanks), yes, it should be NOT x86 package:
http://ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.de/xb...rmeabi-v7a.apk
2. Install it with any file manager. I used FileTug app.
3. Start it -> setup it -> and use it
4. If you have Google play or any other android stores, remember to disable auto-update on Kodi app.

I already tried to upgrade to many different versions of 15, 16 and 17 (both x86 and armeabi-v7a).. But no one is worked. It's always crashed after start and they don't put icon on your desktop...
Hope one day, someone will create native Kodi app for SailfishOS...

Tested webcat, sailfish-browser & LLs Video Player. All suffer from the same issue.
The interesting thing. Now at the day time I have a very slightly better connection (cat /proc/net/wireless shows link 58-60) and I can watch videos more fluently. (sometimes when I move I still get some rebuffering which keeps stopping the video playback).
I don't have that problems when getting nearer to the router.
So I guess its simply out of range though thats then the only device I found so far with such poor reception.
I can literally see the router here in the other room and browsing interstingly works fine. But as soon as I try to load some videos. Maybe its the default cache size in gstreamer that causes this issue of videos not being played back fluently.
Though also the sailfish-browser has its problem and that should not use gstreamer as far as I know.

@llelectronics, I have neither the tablet nor a 5 GHz router so may be talking rubbish but... did you mention your router was dual frequency? Could it be possible that your other devices use the 2.4 GHz band?

The Jolla phone also suffering of bad reception if you cover the wifi antenna with your hand. The antenna is located in the upper left corner and it is easy to cover when held i portrait. Try to find where the antenna on the tablet is located and don't cover that area. WIFI analyzer from OpenRepos is a great tool to find where the antenna is located.

I managed to get some information out of the tablet with perf. It seems to be a driver problem (bcm4330), but I don't have any debug symbols to see any more info. Anyone got any?

Hmmm... BCM4330 seems to have firmware that supports monitor mode/packet injection:
http://bcmon.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/...r-bcm4330.html
Wonder if this would work on the tablet

I have a Microsoft Universal Keyboard UK Lyout. It works very well, but being UK it does not match the "English keyboard" settings under settings -> Text input-> Active layout.

Where can I find out where these settings are kept so I can edit the file to match my hardware?

There is a lot in /usr/share/X11/xkb ?

also:

As the Tablet runs Linux whats the nearest distribution I can find that matches it ie what is is based on?
