Crappy pic from the crappy camera on my phone, sitting in my office. :P Not quite as nice as Tahoe unfortunately. You can tell I'm obviously working very, very hard ....

Here's the N810 next to its big brother and the newest member of the family, a shiny new N82. Picture taken with my retired N70.

My 770 is sitting by my briefcase here in my cube at work. Not exciting at all.

What does "driving" mean in this context? There's no wires, so I assume you're connecting via WiFi, but what is that on the screen? A web page? A VNC session? An X Window?

The licor is controlled through a webserver interface. This usually means loading samples to be sequenced then scurrying off to a computer to configure the run, hit the start button, etc. The machine also displays the results, more or less in real time, and saves completed runs. The typical method of use is to load samples, go to a computer to start the run, then go home, drink beer, and check on progress every now and then over the web.

The N800 is connected to the machine by wifi, and is here displaying the machine's web interface, the right half of which is an image of the run (each column is a different individual, or a size standard, black marks at different heights show different versions of the same gene in different individuals). Controlling the start of the run like this isn't so useful really, but being able to check on a run in progress while strolling around campus is just, well, one of those things that makes me love my N800.
