No, you should be able to backup to the eMMC, which is untouched by the normal firmware update. Without the memory card in, I still get the option to backup to the eMMC anyway.

Okey. Thanks for correcting this. Feels tough bit funny to "backup" something inside device.

This new firmware is killing my device at the moment. The cpu usually spikes up redline randomly and when opening anything. my phone became hot and overheated then freeze. i have to take the battery out for 30seconds then put it back but the problem reoccurred again after turned on. I've been restarting my N900 for 2hours and finally it working okay now. But somewhat the RAM usage and the CPU usage is usually higher than when i'm on firmware 42.11.

I have a problem when connecting to my Windows 7 as Mass Storage. Some how Windows7 can only see it as "Unallocated Device". I reinstalled the PC Suite and it's drivers but it keep saying "Unallocated..." in the "Manage". But when I discoonected the device from the computer, my N900 became overloaded and freeze. It's really weird and I have to keep rebooting until it back to normal again.

Any Idea?

And why before the update I could make a back up without having a mmc?
