New Release 0.1.13

Just uploaded a new version to the server.

Mainly it reverts back some of the changes in the last release (it is using QWebView again). I couldn't really see an improved performance so it should not matter anyway.

Also on this version it will start new windows in full screen mode.

Black screen bug fixed.
On google docs page, have you purposely increased the zoom factor?
It is larger than the other Google sites.

Macuco is using the information on the viewport meta tag. Granted that I tweaked it a little. If you find any that don't make much sense let me know what it the metatag says and how you would like the initial zoom level to be. You can find the information on the macuco log (/home/user/.macuco/log.txt).

I was hoping someone else would answer your question before I had to ...

You will have to make the decision by yourself. What I can tell you to help you make it is that I (the developer) would use it.

A few things you need to consider:
  • You need to trust the macuco source code - trust me or check the source code
  • You need to trust that the package you downloaded match the source code I uploaded to the server - trust maemo.org
  • You need to trust Qt/Qt WebKit - trust Nokia/Qt
  • You need to trust WebKit - trust all the developers involved on it or, at least, Nokia revision of the code
  • You need to trust the platform and any libraries use by it to encrypt your communication with the sites.
  • You need to trust YOU on deciding what packages you installed

I could keep going but I would say that you just need to decide about the first two on the list. If you have accessed a bank account with the default browser on your n900 you have already decided about the others.

Hold on thar Felipe... I trust Macuco2 and all of your list, but I'd like to ask the poster is he trusts these things:
1. Do you trust your bank? Does it implement the correct security protocols? Will it safeguard your information?
2. Do you trust your Wifi? Have you secured your own network to intrusions and sniffers?
3. Do you trust your ISP? Has it taken appropriate steps to enable secure protocols?
4. Do you trust your device? Have you ensured that there are no keyloggers or other malicious crap that has compromised your device?

We'll worry about the browser, but these 4 points (probably more) are the things you need to worry about as well - I'd say more than macuco2.

I don't disagree with you at all. That was why I said:

Meaning that there are many other things to worry about, like the ones in your list, that apply to any browser, not just macuco.

Just submitted a new version to the autobuilder - 0.1.14

Starting with this version you can leave macuco running in the background. There are also some other minor changes.

I would really appreciate if some of you could vote for macuco so it can be promoted to extras.

We just need two more votes. I am waiting for it to get there before restarting the process with this last version.
