I havent read the whole thread but I have a little question....before the update when I searched for an artist in youtube and clicked on any video it would play it and autommatically the next, and so on...(the whole search) but now everytime a video finishes it asks to select the format for the next one...can I set the format for all the videos without being asked everytime?
thanks for the app!! I love it!
Greetings from Colombia-....

Hey pycage,

I may have an insight into the problem with the power drain. I have been using MB on my commute, call it 3-4 hours per day there and back, depending on traffic, and it behaves just fine. However, today, I did not shut it down, but let it run in the background. And the battery, which was nearly full when I got to work, drained 75% in about 2 hours while in the office.

You mentioned the problem with the media scan being caused by a dead network connection confusing UPNP. Is it possible (or probable) that the UPNP or something is also causing python to thrash and thereby draining the battery? I noticed when I took a break this morning that the battery was warm to the touch, even through the back panel. so I checked to see what was running, and other than FBReader, MB was the only thing. I closed MB, and when I went back to my desk, charged it off of the USB on my desktop. That was 10 or 12 hours ago, and even playing MB most of the evening, the battery is at 75%.

Yes, it works on a desktop Linux with gstreamer backend. The tablets need some more than just the video link.
I ran it on Ubuntu Lucid yesterday.

hi! first i would like to thanks to the mediabox team for giving us such a good application!!
i would like to give you a couple of sugestions that will improve the mediaplayer use, at least for me

i use the player in this way:
i copied my mp3 library from my pc. made a playlist with that folder and i use the ramdon function to play my list.
the problem here for me is that whenever my list get on a jpg file of my list/folder ( cds cover arts) the player stops, and when i hit play he goes to slideshow mode... now i think you should do something about it so when im listening music i ONLY want to hear muuusic

another great feature would be the cover art fetch which instinctiv handles in a very good way!... as someone else said before, bigger buttons will be great for driving usage!

another thing is when im listening music and the screen get down the light intensity to "pre-save mode" the music stop for a milisec...

thats just my opinion and experience with the player. i hope you can use it to improve it! its so far the best mp app for maemo! i use it everyday! thank you again for you hard work!

p.s. how can i make a theme? i am designer and i think i can help but im not good with linux... sorry for my english, im from venezuela

2010.07.23 is currently on its way to Fremantle extras-devel. If it works OK I'll promote it to extras-testing.
Diablo version should follow soon.

Any suggestions how to handle this situation? Maybe only treat playlists with images only as slideshow?

The problem with cover art is where to fetch it legally? instinctiv may run their own database server with covers, but MediaBox doesn't have a thing like this.

Blame Nokia for this.

Take a look into /opt/mediabox/themes
A theme is just a directory with graphics, some color and font definitions, and meta info.
You can put themes into /home/user/.mediabox/themes/, too.
Themes don't have to include everything; the things not in the theme get inherited from the default theme automatically.
