Whoa, I hadn't thought about that as a problem with the Ottercase. I almost bought one. I ended up with a leather PDAir, which has been working well but is not something permanently on. If I had realized I had to choose between external charging and the Ottercase, I would have rejected the Ottercase much faster. I gave my external charger to someone else and have ordered another -- in the meantime, life without an external charger is hell.

Got my replacement n900 the other day. Nokia even gave me a green ovi branded prepaid visa card for $10, nice little bonus. The original n900 was a week 46 batch. Im not sure what this one is but its leaps and bounds better constructed than the other, slider is beautiful, screen is very responsive, and overall responsive overall, I havent flashed it or anything, just kept the stock 1.2 nokia installed. I did a complete backup of the old n900 and it still runs like a dream. RAM management and battery seem solid even loaded down with all the crap I put on it.

Just had mine come out today. Called the service care dept and they pointed me to some repair website and that this repair is not covered under the warranty. I just used the email customer care option but curious to know what you all are using to force this issue as they sounded clear to me. I even stated that this is a design flaw and not my fault, but this rep wasnt hearing it.

From the US, but living in Portugal with an unlocked n900. Going back to the US for business tomorrow so going to try my luck again from there, but I do have a US address so I hope that will help. I read your post and will try that once on US soil.

Well it seems that another one bites the dust.
Mine isn't functioning anymore. When I plug it in to the computer the led turns on a steady yellow, and stays that way for ~10 seconds, urning itself off afterwards for another ~10 seconds and back again. Nokia is very thinly lit on the screen. dmesg from the linux constantly spews out that a device has been connected and disconnected.

Seems like its about to die, huh?
Problem is that I'm over seas, in israel. As such the local company that does repair and services for nokia devices doesn't officially support the n900 so I am skeptical that they will do anything...

Well, I tried seeing if the connector is actually loose, and it doesn't seem so. What happened was that the device started getting stuck, and I rebooted it. While it had low battery it should of had enough for a reboot, (it wasn't in the red), and when I tried turning it on it wouldn't.

Could this be something else?

(I had filed the connectors and was extra careful when connecting and disconnecting them)
