There are pros and cons to any phone and platform.

Windows mobile is a non-starter for me no matter how much someone tries to hide it. The HD2 has some nice hardware but really windows mobile so disliked people will never develop on it "for fun" so you'll never get the range of apps you'll find elsewhere.

Android is a definite possibility but it's still very new. We're only now seeing what will happen when there's a wide range of devices out there. Building Android apps for one or two very similar devices is one thing, building apps for a wide range of devices is very different.

When I pick a new product I always try to focus on a few criteria I know I'll want e.g. if I'm looking at a laptop I go for the best screen I can afford because I know a crappy screen with an awesome CPU is useless to me.

With phones I've increasingly been focused on non-phone functionality because they're often all the same in that regard. We all know Nokia has excellent phone engineering so things like call quality etc is not a concern. Outside of the phone what I want is GPS/maps, internet access and good quality applications. The N900 definitely has great internet access and the browser is what's selling me on the product. GPS/Maps seems quite weak but still has a lot of potential - hopefully they'll squash the signal lock bugs and get newer versions of Ovi Maps on there. With the applications I think a lot of developers will be interested because it's Linux + QT.

I rang Nokia online today and they are swearing blind that the NFS will not have any n900's tomorrow as they are not due in until friday, so it will be interesting to see what happens

I was talking about Android, not about that Win c**p.

And so is the N900 further more it's GTK based and the successor of the N900 will be QT based.
