I give full instructions on how to go back to the (last known working) W10 in this post.

It seems strange that so many people are having so much trouble; I saw where the Internal Error happened, but as long as an instance of Modest was open, it worked fine. Now with W12, it seems to work fine entirely. I'm using GMail IMAP, SSL IMAP4S, and having no trouble.

And for people who think that fat scrolbars on the default client would make it fine, maybe, if you don't use GMail at least, it would be. But I used it a little before, and I think Modest is much improved. It's beta, of course, and so there are some troubles, but it's already better than the built-in one and improving (in stability) despite the odd glitch along the way.

Thanks for your instructions. I am using them with every new release of Modest. The "Internal Error" message is killing me.

Me too. But, like you, I keep hoping and I keep installing... then uninstalling...

It doesn't matter how long I press the button. The first really short tap brings the mail view from fullscreen back to normal view. The second short tap closes the opened mail and I'm in normal view.

But I want to start Modest, go to fullscreen and use Modest the whole time in fullscreen. This doesn't work.

I use the latest Modest version.

I use ctrl-w to close the message window.
I use Modest as a mail viewer of my log files and don't want to slide again and again the keyboard.

Reflashed and reinstalled the latest version

1) SSL error on connection to imap.gmail.com that I never got before.

2) Neither read or deletions appear to actually carry over to gmail.

3) The LED indicator often does not flash even though I have new mail. On occasion it works, but most of the time not.

4) Background checking doesn't crash... but doesn't appear to actually work either. ( Might be related to #3 ).

I just installed modest 1.0-2008.12-1 (first time) and it works smoothly. I hope they will improve features and get this working for everyone else, but I have a couple questions. I'm used to thunderbird and gmail imap for my pc, and I was curious if there is a way to get the folders to point to local folders on modest.

For instance, if you click delete on a message in modest, on the server it just archives (only seen in all mail) unless you use the file menu to move it to the [Gmail]/Trash folder. Is there a way to customize the folders to work as it does in thunderbird for the spam, trash, and sent mail?

Other than that, I'm just hoping this can replace the default map so I can remove that one, but luckily i'm not the only person waiting for that...

Just some little feedback from me:
I use Imap via SSL with a rather big mailbox (~20000 mails in 20 folders).
After I entered my account information, everything seemed fine and the only thing I misses was a feature like "default imap folder for all sent mail" instead of a local copy.

After I closed the first instance of modest, I re-opened it. It started by telling me, that my username/pw was incorrect. I entered the same as before and got a pop-up window which wanted to check the supported authentication methods. Unfortunately this one locks up immediately.

I will return to claws again and check back when a new version becomes available
