Qole, if you made a tar.gz i don't think firefox is necessary.

I am waiting for lxde and ubuntu-mobile, they are both gonna be available someday. Ubuntu-Mobile will work because they changed flash-home-screen to python-home-screen

I have booted to gnome with this and it was slow... Gnome is not gonna be my tablet-desktop

I highly, highly doubt they've gotten Thunderbird to build for armel. And if they did, it probably doesn't work right. I might be wrong, but so far I've yet to find a stable mozilla e-mail client for armel.

Thunderbird is built and available in repo, right now i am installing it. I will try it and post the results if it works.

Qole, remeber, canonical pays them for every hour they waste for fighting with there packages =P (does it?)

Qole, you were right (like always), thunderbird gives me segmentation fault in chroot but i have some maemos gtk packages installed and that can cause it... Or maybe it's like lxlauncher, needs to be run in gnome, kde or something...

nah, Thunderbird just segfaults in armel. It is just too old. They need to upgrade to xulrunner 1.9 (firefox 3 engine) to work.

The Seamonkey mail client sorta-works in the Mojo port, but it is incredibly fragile, crashing at the slightest breeze. I notice they don't have it built yet in the official Ubuntu port.

Are you still going to make a tarball?

Mojos repository is sooo slow comparing to ubuntu-arm:s repo

meizirkki: I'm kinda waiting for the dust to settle a bit, the repositories are still pretty empty over there...

But yes, I'm planning to make a tarball of the Ubuntu system, maybe this weekend.

I'm always looking for a better system. If we could get an even faster OpenOffice and Firefox, that would make a lot of people happy. I'd also like to see if I can get a faster ImageMagick. The Debian one is snail slow.

Anything new happening with this or the Mer project? It looks from the wiki that we're just waiting on an installer to test.

I took a look at Ubuntu Jaunty for armel today and noticed that it was missing a couple dependencies (perlapi-5.10.0, libapt-pkg-libc6.8-6-4.6) which arn't available for armel for the install (both related to ubuntu-minimal dependencies). Are you guys self building packages like these (if you are, I'd assumer you're saving them to a repo somewhere and I was wondering where)? It's nothing crucial, I was just messing around.

This Nokia port is really old now... nothing happening here...

But Mer is really growing all the time http://jaiku.com/channel/reconstructedPOC
If you cannot view that, PM me your e-mail and i'll send you Jaiku invite.

I don't think Jaunty is missing a lot of important packages.. Gnome, LXDE and Ubuntu-MID are installable and in fact, the arm port is really big already.

Arm universe: ~5.6 mb
i386 universe: ~5.9 mb

Mer repo is here: repository.mer.tspre.org
(i'm not sure if it's down atm)

How were you able to get those to work?!? all i get when trying to install Gnome is a bunch of broken dependency errors.

Are those really installable, or do they just show up in synaptic?
