I think the next Maemo device should have "DON'T PANIC" inscribed in large, friendly letters on the cover.

B.R.A.I.N (acronym to be filled in by consensus)
I have referred to my PDAs (Visor Edge-T3-N800) as my Brain since I got the first one.
ie To my Wife: "If it's not in my BRAIN, I won't remember it"

I recall a TV SciFi show about a cop in space with irreverence for technology. His pocket computer was speech activated and he addressed it as "Box". Not a good choice from a marketing perspective but still memorable.

Was that Gerry Anderson's "Space Precinct"? I don't recall too much of it (that particular part of the nineties is largely a blurr), but "Box" rings a -- rather distant -- bell. Or maybe that's just my ears remembering 1995...

This should help clarify the naming of devices in and around the Maemo 5 device.
Netbook Flowchart:
It seems that in this chart, the question becomes: Is Maemo a "Special OS" or a "Full OS"?

Frankly, if the software just works then it won't need a name at all, because the branding will be in the quality of the platform.
