I can't get my contacts to sync at all. I have tried mail for exchange but just get error message. Followed these instructions but no luck.

http://www.google.com/support/mobile...&answer=147951

I have also tried sync evolution but that didn't work either. Anyone have any ideas?

Nuevasync will not be free anymore.

Any working alternatives?

Erminig works well for calendars; I don't think it does contacts. syncevolution can (apparently).

Calendar and contacts syncing nicely with these instructions: http://www.google.com/support/forum/...8dea5ed7&hl=en

The default calendar (N900) did not sync though, I needed to create a new one.

Yes, and it has been working fine since the beginning (except for the birthdays 1-day offset bug).

Even the default calendar syncs properly (remember to empty it completely, then issue a full sync)

Like many people, I got the NeuevaSync email today.
I've just followed http://www.google.com/support/forum/...8dea5ed7&hl=en and it worked fine *without clearing the local N900 calender*.
I'm on a stock device with PR1.3.

A test event created sync'ed up OK, and when removed from Google Calender on their web site was removed when I did a 2nd manual sync.

It works for me as well.
I did a test in both directions for the contacts as well as for the calendar. For the calendar I also tested with a repeating entry:
Google shows it correctly, the N900 does only show the first entry if created in google, but the details of the entry indicates the repetition correctly.

I had to do a complete resync on my phone to get it working!
No data got lost.

I tried that one to, but still I get an "error communicating with exchange server" - error...
And he also gives me a message that says: "Invalid username, invalid password or invalid domain for Exchange account", and I know my password and username are correct AND I followed that google thread...
any Ideas?
