Hi, i know this is a little off topic but im hoping someone here can help me.
When sending messages over a certian size to my gf they somehow get f*cked up with part of old messages (even long deleted ones) stuck on to the end of them, ive saved and exported all my messages to my memory card then deleted the original conversations but im still getting the same problem.
My questiom is what command do i need to totaly delete all traces of old sms messages?
I'm hoping this will sort itself out when i flash ota to pr1.2, my laptop is totaly knackered so i cant use the flasher tool anymore,
so for now my plan is to archive and delete my text messages regularly in the hope that this will stop it until i find a permanent solution.
I would really appreciate any help.
Thanks

Hi All, I'm pretty new to maemo, would you pretty appreciate some help. Almost finished the importing, but received the error, when running run-standalone.sh ./smsimporter sms.csv:
error while loading shared libraries: librtcom-eventlogger.so.o: cannot open shared object file.

Thanks in advance.

Hi all, I've been evaluating a N900, and so far it's simply awed me.

I'm a bit miffed about how poorly PC-Suite handles SMS messages on the N900 though, and the lack of MMS support pains me

Anyway, I've just got the importer to work, and it's quite simply awesome. I'm looking to upgrade because my N95 runs out of memory when opening my inbox, and this has shown me the N900 is up to the task.

However, I've had a lot of backup-edit-restore cycles on my N95, and looking into the csv generated, most of my older recieved messages have text strings in the incoming field, not phone numbers. As such, conversations does not like them at all. The text appears in the summary in the main conversations list, but loading them up results in a blank window.

Examples are things like:
Code:
sms|deliver|"T-Mobile"|""|""|"2007.09.10 12:34"|""|"Your remaining Flext allowance...<snip>...text STOP to 48666."
sms|deliver|"Prowse Karen"|""|""|"2007.09.11 14:08"|""|"All done xx"
sms|deliver|"My Nokia"|""|""|"2007.12.17 11:39"|""|"Tip: To find & enter a symbol (e.g. $ or @) when writing an SMS, just press * and select the symbol you want."
Now, "Karen Prowse" exists in my contacts, but all the messages from her are in "lastname, firstname" form, and the code, as far as I can see, expects only phone numbers, and that aside, when matching to a contact, doesn't look for the "lastname, firstname" form.

I'll have a go myself (it's an excuse to put the compiler on the N900 I'm using ), but it'd be good if the original author could have a go too as I've no experience of maemo

Hi.

Unfortunatelly this app doesn't works with new pr1.2 phone swversion, because in the new phonesw doesn't contain librtcom-eventlogger.so.0.
In the new ver there is only librtcom-eventlogger.so.1.
Could somebody update this smstool sw to the new environments ?

Thanks.

Also with PR1.2 a new schema comes for the SMS DB. It now recides to /home/user/.rtcom-messaging/el-v1.db (previously was el.db).

At first, thanks very very much for creating this aid.

Ok, after that.... growl! Somehow I can't get it to work. It all works well up untill

Code:
run-standalone.sh ./smsimporter sms.csv
I get the following errormessage

Code:
error while loading shared libraries: librtcom-eventlogger.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.
I've been looking around a bit what it meant, but I can't really find it. I hope some one here can help me out.

I think you're having the same problem as post #164: smsimporter needs to be recompiled for PR1.2.

Ah lol, I missed that one.

Does anyone have a recompiled version that works for PR1.2?

Hey..

great stuff.. but, I have like over 700 Sent and Received SMS's that were on my old N97. I had always synced at the end of the day with Ovi Suite. All SMSs are stored in the program and I have sold my N97 and got the N900. Ovi Suite doesn't support N900, so I use PC Suite..

I want to find a way to get those SMSs into my N900....!!!

You have the same problem I have then. You can use this programm, but it's not working with PR1.2 yet. So we'll have to wait for a new version of it.
